@jamiesont More than Brexit, more than the pandemic response…I think the emblematic markers of the true state of the UK in last 25 years are the Post Office Horizon scandal and the regulatory and political decisions that resulted in Grenfell.

@alexmassie Funny if you are in 5th form maybe… She asks about US allies (or so we think)…he replies with the incident that brought USA into war against the nazi axis…in a meeting between heads of state.

@mrianleslie Liberalise what regulation and how Ian? building regulations? Planning permission? Regulation of water? Trade descriptions? Patent laws? Data protection? Where are these expanses of constriction you seem to imply? Genuine Q.

Most of the big things Britain needs to do are things that right-wing parties are more comfortable with - cut welfare spending, liberalise regulation, build nuclear, boost defence. But we have a Lab govt moving left and a lame Tory opposition.

What can I make as a nice dinner for us all tonight? It’s been a bruising week with a lot of work stress for us both, some upsetting family behaviour to navigate, long hours and youngest had exams. I have to do a ballet run between 6-8:30pm.

@msloobylou Strange and yet very human how vivid digital connections can be…..a very talented, knowledgeable and lovely very young man from the world of tennis on here died at the end of last year…I felt bereft for a week and am often thinking “I wonder what D would have said…”

Oh bugger, a mate from here has died. I never met him but only today thought I must tell him something. We bonded over Powell & Pressburger, Jeremy Deller and Bowie and messaged often. He was having chemo and was feeling positive. BUGGER.

Do you remember how lovely & quiet the roads were during the ‘lockdowns’ early in the COVID pandemic? That showed how a better quality of life was achievable simply by significantly reducing the number of cars on our roads. Air was clean, roads were safe & silent, it was bliss.

A mate has pulled out of my birthday dinner in London next Saturday as he's worried about an Iranian sleeper cell terror attack. I'm no expert but I think they may go for airports, power plants, govt buildings etc rather than Albert's Schloss Bavarian bar and restaurant in Soho.

I have planned 4 lessons. Written 3/4 of my reports. Caught up on college work. Roughly planned my assessments. Still have 3 lessons, a load of work to do on 3 more (but lighter touch) rest of my reports, work for my assignment and coursework feedback. But I am getting there.

In San Francisco you pay $30 for a tasteless butter chicken. In London you pay £4 for the best biriyani you’ve had in your life. In Birmingham you pay £8 for a thali plate: dhal, rice, aloo gobi, pakora and roti.
Arnesa Buljušmić-Kustura@arnesa_kustura

In London you pay £18 for three tiny, bland, inauthentic tacos. In California you pay $6 for three incredible, authentic tacos from a taco truck. In Iowa you pay £12 for a full plate: chimichangas, rice, salad, refried beans, pico de gallo, guacamole, sour cream and three tacos.

@mpscomms It makes a loud clicking noise. Usually has a teen on it. When it’s a City man in his 30s it’s ridiculous.

Had an acute anxiety attack recently and went to the ER on Monday. Now taking meds and trying to start fresh here in Colorado. Any advice and perspective would help. Thank you and God bless you.

@jamesgraysport The tennis calendar is far too crowded isn’t it? Daft to expect players to go all the way back to Australia and hard courts when the rest of the tour is into the clay season.

Great Britain name their team for tie in Australia on April 10-11. No Emma Raducanu, Katie Boulter or Fran Jones meaning GB without three of their top four singles players. - Sonay Kartal - Harriet Dart - Jodie Burrage - Mika Stojsavljevic
