An update here in case it helps anyone else with sleep apnea: I got a custom oral appliance built (like a dental retainer that you sleep with) and my symptoms are at least 95% better Huge quality of life upgrade

Just got diagnosed with moderate to severe sleep apnea Would love to know anyone that has successfully cured this with lifestyle interventions etc. No overweight / general metrics and health pretty good, would not have noticed this if not for a test at a longevity clinic

The Lp(a) problem nobody's talking about 90% genetic. Can't diet it away. Can't exercise it down. But here's what most people don't understand about WHY Lp(a) is atherogenic: Lp(a) isn't just "bad cholesterol." It's structurally similar to plasminogen - the molecule your body uses to break down blood clots. So Lp(a) does two things: 1. Penetrates arterial wall and causes inflammation (like LDL) 2. Interferes with clot breakdown (competitive inhibition with plasminogen) This dual mechanism - both promoting plaque formation AND promoting thrombosis - is why elevated Lp(a) is particularly dangerous. If you have family history of early heart disease (<55 in men, <65 in women), test it once. The level stays stable for life. Knowing matters because: - High Lp(a) changes how aggressively we treat your other risk factors - New therapies (RNA-based) specifically targeting Lp(a) are in Phase 3 trials - It explains why some people with "perfect" cholesterol still have events
