@murthy_sonam @stephenr4747 @DeepikaBhardwaj I believe once kids have their own family, they shouldn’t be expected to support parents if the parents are self sufficient and rich, have enough means to support themselves and not old. Parents who use kids as a retirement policy don’t deserve to be called as parents.

Look at that photo and it is evident who India failed. A mother who gave her son to the nation is barely even reaching the medal. A father who gave his son to the nation couldn't even touch that medal.
Everything was fine just before he sacrificed his life. But these parents became strangers immediately thereafter. They don't even have the uniform of their son.
Distraught parents asking what was their fault isn't a character assassination. They asking for their rights doesn't take away anyone else's rights.

Her name is Smriti Singh. She met Anshuman on the first day of engineering college. Love at first sight. He got selected to AFMC a month later. They maintained a long distance relationship for 8 years. They married on February 10 2023. Two months later he was posted to Siachen. That she had walked away with the money. That she should marry their younger son if she wanted to stay in the family. The internet turned on Smriti overnight. Gold digger. Opportunist. Not a real wife. Anshuman had named Smriti as his next of kin in his own will. His legal right. His choice. The Army confirmed this. The pension went to her because he chose her. She did not speak. She did not retaliate. She had lost her husband after two months of marriage. She stood alone at Rashtrapati Bhavan. She accepted his medal. She stayed silent when India called her a criminal for it. @murthy_sonam @stephenr4747 @DeepikaBhardwaj Their idea was “ because the marriage is only 6 months old” so it’s not worthy enough for such huge amount. If she has spent 15 years and had kids then she was worthy enough. Such was their dehati mindset. The moment son died, they just disrespected his wife and his wows.

@murthy_sonam @stephenr4747 @DeepikaBhardwaj Only in India we have this type of discussion that parents should be beneficiary in son’s income even after his marriage. Parents knew it well that the wife will have his share, his kids will have his share. Just because he died so early doesn’t erase all his wows of marriage.

@murthy_sonam @stephenr4747 @DeepikaBhardwaj She too married him of sound mind knowing the risks infact encouraged him to join. Do not underestimate the bravery of soldiers' wives. Their whole lives are at stake when the soldiers die. Parents who got > 50 lakhs but are still expecting more shouldn’t marry their sons.

Girls who marry soldiers are also facing huge risk of getting widowed so they are respected. Parents shd accept their share. Kids arent pension policy for post-death benefits.

@murthy_sonam @stephenr4747 @DeepikaBhardwaj Yes. But it’s rare. Mostly an army doctor doesn’t think about these circumstances because they are not on the field. He died in a fire accident while saving others so that’s rare.
