@MadelnCanada Tipping culture feels out of control, not out of reach. With minimum wage now over $18/hour, it’s no longer just about supplementing income. Big difference between tipping for exceptional service at a sit-down restaurant and being prompted to tip at Tim Hortons or Subway.

I opposed Stephen Harper's values test for new immigrants. I was just totally wrong about that, and he was right.

@josiezayner I know the scientist behind this posting @BKleinstiver. He’s a world-leading gene editing researcher who invests heavily in mentoring trainees. A paid $40–60K undergrad position in that environment is not a problem — it’s an incredible launchpad for someone serious about science.

@Maarten_BNL @simonmaechling Nature does genetic engineering too. Sweet potatoes are naturally transgenic—their genome contains bacterial DNA integrated thousands of years ago. We just do it faster with modern technology.

In my opinion, it was not a mistake. In the EU, we don’t need GMO’s. We produce enough food to feed ourselves and we do not need to produce more. We still don’t know the long-term consequences of consuming GMO’s and since the risk could be existential, we logically should not take it.

How long until the EU admits that banning GMOs was a choice and in hindsight, it was a strategic mistake.

@simonmaechling I wish more people understood the positive impact modern GMOs have on farmers and the environment. Insect-resistant crops like Bt corn and cotton have reduced insecticide use by hundreds of millions of pounds globally while maintaining yields. cals.cornell.edu/news/2018/11/g…

As a manager, one of my biggest regrets is losing top performers. They said they we're leaving for a "better opportunity." I figured they left for more money. Turns out, they left because I failed these 3 tests:

🕯️ SAY HER NAME! HER LIGHT WILL SHINE ON • REST IN PEACE 🕯️ Today we are holding space for Ticaria “Tiki” Lampert, 12, whose life was taken in the tragic school shooting in Tumbler Ridge, British Columbia, Canada on February 10, 2026. Tiki was only 12 years old. She was her mama’s everything. The glue of her family. One of eight siblings raised by her devoted mother, Sarah. Those who loved her describe a bright, effervescent spirit. A little girl who lived fully in the moment. Who could make her whole family laugh until their bellies hurt. Who could spend time with her older sisters and still happily play with the little ones. Her mom called her their “Tiki torch,” blazing bright. She loved painting, cooking, crafts, and the things that made her uniquely her. She was courageous, compassionate, and full of life. Tiki was not a headline. She was not a statistic. She was a daughter. A sister. A best friend. A child whose light filled rooms. Today we honor her name. We honor her spirit. And we hold space for her mother, her siblings, and every loved one carrying this unimaginable loss. Please join us by leaving a 🕯️ and saying “Tiki” in the comments so her light continues to shine far beyond Tumbler Ridge. Her light will shine on. You will never be forgotten. #TicariaLampert #TikiLampert #TumblerRidge #BritishColumbia #Canada #SayHerName

🕯️ SAY HIS NAME • REST IN PEACE 🕯️ Today we are holding space for Emmett Jacobs, 11, whose life was lost in the tragic events in Tumbler Ridge, British Columbia, Canada on February 10, 2026. Emmett was just 11 years old. A child. A young boy who should have had so many more birthdays ahead of him. Right now, we may not know all the details of his story. But we know this: He mattered. His life had value. He was someone’s child. Someone’s family. Someone who was loved. An 11-year-old boy should be thinking about school projects, games, sports, friends, and what he wants to be when he grows up. He should still be here. Today, we honor Emmett with dignity. We speak his name. We hold space for those grieving him and for every family whose lives have been forever changed. Please join us by leaving a 🕯️ and saying “Emmett” in the comments so his name remains visible and remembered. Rest peacefully, Emmett. You were loved. You mattered. 🕯️ SAY HER NAME • REST IN PEACE 🕯️ Today we are holding space for Zoey Renee Anne Benoit, 12, whose life was taken in the tragic school shooting in Tumbler Ridge, British Columbia, Canada on February 10, 2026. Zoey left for school that morning thinking it was just another normal day. She was a daughter. A sister. A bright light in her family. Her mother shared the unimaginable heartbreak of waiting for Zoey after safely embracing other children who had made it out. Hours of not knowing. And then the devastating news that Zoey was among the victims. Zoey was described as beautiful, loved, and strong-minded. She loved art. She loved playing with her siblings. She had a beautiful singing voice that she didn’t even realize she had. She was their baby. Their brave girl. Zoey was not a headline. She was not a statistic. She was a 12-year-old child with a future that should still be unfolding. We are choosing to center Zoey’s life and her name. And we are holding space for every family in Tumbler Ridge whose lives were forever changed on February 10, 2026.
