"Yes, Peter wept - and wept bitterly. He wept so that, with his tears, he might wash away his sins. And you, my friend, if you want to obtain pardon, wash away your sins with your tears." - St Ambrose of Milan

Tzamalikos points out that Origen, in his Commentary on Genesis as preserved in Codex Holy Sepulchre 3, explicitly calls the Trinity ὁμοούσιος or homoousios; Consubstantial.

I am following with deep concern what is happening in the Middle East and in Iran during this tumultuous time. Stability and peace are not achieved through mutual threats, nor through the use of weapons, which sow destruction, suffering, and death, but only through reasonable, sincere, and responsible dialogue.

@burm_ab @AEnjoyer447201 While a case can be made for Q (or at least what we currently know of it) to possess a High Christology, it remains hypothetical and arguments from silence are generally weak. To give an illustration, Q does not say Jesus is the Messiah or that he was born so you get my point.

@burm_ab @AEnjoyer447201 There are some passages in James which might imply so. See for example James 5:7 where the letter exegetes, or draws off of, Hosea 6:3 ELXX to be in reference to Christ’s coming. There is also James 2:1 and the title of ‘Lord of Glory’ only being applicable to God in 2TJ.

According to Georga Monachus, Philo professed (or was close to confessing) a constubstantial Triad of Father, Logos and Spirit.

Faith in Hiding: The Reality of Moroccan Converts to Christianity In Morocco, I was a Muslim who converted to Christianity. However, I was forced to practice my faith in total secrecy for years, as if I were doing something illegal. This wasn’t only my case. I discovered it was the reality of an entire community living in fear — thousands of Moroccan Christians from a Muslim background. We couldn’t meet publicly to worship on Sunday. We had to gather secretly in homes because the government does not allow it. We couldn’t appoint pastors, perform baptisms, celebrate Christian marriages, or hold Christian burial ceremonies. The government sees us as Muslims and does not recognize us as Christians. When someone dies, we are forced to bury them according to Islamic procedures. Often, we cannot avoid Islamic rituals. Many are buried in Islamic cemeteries, with the Qur’an recited over them by local Muslim clerics who are present at the burial. We couldn’t choose Christian names for our children. Even though there is no clear written law prohibiting it, the authorities simply refuse to register those names through administrative procedures. We couldn’t have a civil marriage. Marriages had to be conducted according to Islamic law, with certificates issued by Muslim courts and clerics, including Islamic phrases stating that we are married according to the Sunnah of Allah and His Messenger. Our children were forced to study Islam in school. Islamic education and the Qur’an cannot be waived, even if you inform the school that you are a Christian family. They are required to repeat phrases such as “Allah said” and “the Prophet said…” Any Moroccan Christian woman who wants to marry a Spanish, French, or American man cannot do so in Morocco unless he converts to Islam, because she is officially considered Muslim, and under Islamic law a Muslim woman cannot marry a non-Muslim man. We couldn’t legally import Arabic Bibles or Christian literature. We had to smuggle them or ask visitors coming from abroad to bring copies discreetly. In the past, many meetings were raided by police. Bibles, laptops, and Christian literature were confiscated. People were taken for interrogation, intimidated, harassed, and humiliated. The last major raids happened in 2010. These are just some of the things I wanted to share. There is more, and I will share it in the future.

@RxOnlyFL In Diodore's case, Mar Aphram's book on the Council of Ephesus gives a nice description of him. While hailed by Theodosius the Greater and as a father of Const. I, he was posthumously condemned by the time of the Nestorian controversy.

All of these fathers were either respected by Saints or taught and influenced Saints. Just because they did not make the threshold of veneration, even their condemnation, does not lessen their contributions to the Orthodox faith.

This Ramadan/Lent I’m going to read each scripture & at the end decide which faith I’m going to commit to. I’ve exhausted the logical arguments and the historical case for each faith. Now I’m just going to let God speak to me. Keep me in your prayers

@MateyYanakiev Surely, three manuscripts witness to the reading of the OG : Codex Chisianus 45, Papyrus 967 and the Syro-Hexaplar Codex Ambrosianus although keep in mind the SyH is not Greek but rather a Syriac translation.

The Original Greek translation of Dan. 7:13-14 states the Son of Man figure receives "latreuō" and is presented "as the Ancient of Days". The implication would be that the author now equates the SoM with God and attributes to the SOM a worship only proper to God.

@viral_x4 Take all your time in reading this and coping about how "the God who existed before the creation of the universe" is a created being. Not to mention that Justin, at least twice, explicitly distinguishes the begetting of the Son from the creation of everything.

Fabricating quotes and attributing them to Justin won't help you. Justin identifies the Son as ὁ θεός who pre-exists creation, who is distinct from the Father in number but not in γνώμῃ – mind (Dial. 56). Just as the Councils teach: alius atque alius, non aliud atque aliud.
