This is the most famous Canadian to ever live. His strength and determination will never be matched. Truly incredible.

In April 1980, a 21-year-old man stood at the edge of the Atlantic Ocean in eastern Canada, dipped his foot in the water, and began to run. But this was no ordinary young man—and it was no ordinary run. His name was Terry Fox, and he was running with just one leg. The other, a metal and plastic prosthetic, had replaced the limb he lost to cancer at the age of 18. Instead of breaking him, cancer ignited a fire in Terry. He set out to complete what he called the **“Marathon of Hope”**—a cross-country run from coast to coast, aiming to raise money for cancer research and bring hope to others battling the disease. Despite immense pain and exhaustion, Terry ran the equivalent of a full marathon—42 kilometers—every single day. Over 132 days, he covered 5,373 kilometers, through towns, cities, mountains, and plains, cheered on by growing crowds inspired by his determination and courage. On day 143, just outside a town called Thunder Bay, Terry was forced to stop—not from fatigue, but because of searing pain in his chest. The cancer had returned, spreading to his lungs. Terry passed away in June 1981 at just 22 years old. But his journey didn’t end—it became legend. Today, Terry Fox is a global symbol of perseverance and hope. The annual *Terry Fox Run*, held in dozens of countries, has raised over \$850 million for cancer research. His run was never just about miles—it was a message to every patient: “Never give up.” #drthehistories
