@veenavenugopal In a similar situation, my experience too was better with SBI and Central Bank. They have clear processes and knowledgeable staff. KVB delayed us by a few months - some personnel and system issues.

How long do you think HDFC Bank will take to transfer the money from your account to your nominee's after you die? Public sector banks get a bad rap, but it's been more than a year and we have not been able to get funds transferred from my now deceased husband's account in the country's largest private bank. The nominee is our adult daughter, there are no conflicting claims, the paperwork is clear, and yet for more than a year now HDFC has been giving us the run around. Get this paper, get that paper. Each time my daughter comes home for holidays, we have to take 2 days out to go and wait at the bank branch. Today, more than a year after the first application, they said a) we can't find the paperwork including the death certificate you submitted because the employee you submitted to is not here b) you have to get a stamp paper and notarise it for the auto debits that hit his account between the date of his death and the date the account was frozen (on the basis of the paperwork in point a, now non-traceable) c) you have to get HDFC Standard life to sign off because there is an auto debit for an investment from his account. (ME: they are the payee, he is the payer, why does the payee need to approve stopping a standing instruction? Bank: Hamare main aise hi hai). If you wait for 30 minutes, we'll get you the form. d) after 30 minutes. Sorry, we can't get the form, you have to go to their office and do it. By now it is 2.45 PM, HDFC Standard life office is at least 35 minutes away. They are open only till 3.30 PM. We are not sure we'll make it there on time. I call their number to ask if the branch is open tomorrow. Person: Sorry, I can't give you the information today, you will have to call and check tomorrow. (To repeat: HDFC Standard Life's call centre cannot tell you if a branch is working or not the following day) In all, we have spent many hours over many months trying to get this money in a case the bank officials themselves say "should not be complicated". What is worse is for my 20-year-old daughter to relive the trauma of losing her father each time we have to go and explain the case. Just today, we had to speak to three different people and start the story from the beginning. This is not just the bank's inefficiency, it is its utter callousness. (My husband also had money in Indusind Bank. It took one visit and two weeks for that to be transferred). The other, more important point, is that I have a job, we have the money to continue to pay for our needs without having to immediately access these funds. But I am certain that is not the case for many others. What about them? How can this be the system of a bank whose customers are dependent on it for giving them access to their own money?! One FASTag rule I didn't know, and it caused a mess. 👇 I bought a new car in January and got an ICICI FASTag with it. Last week, during a trip, the toll staff told me my FASTag was blocked. At 7 AM, I called ICICI for clarity. Fortunately, they picked up the call. They said that within 90 days of buying a new car, the FASTag must be newly issued and linked to the vehicle registration number. If not, it gets blocked automatically.. At the toll plaza, only IDFC First FASTag was available. Paid ₹700 and got ₹300 balance. Then continued the journey. ✅ Small detail, but important for new car owners.

And that’s how a stampede happens. No conspiracy. Just chaos. Now, imagine a crowd 100 times bigger than this… You’ve got a Karur-scale stampede. I hope Vijay and TVK fans realise the mistake they are making. Their mobbing culture is dangerous, even for Vijay.

China didn’t clean up the toxic Beijing air out of the goodness of its leaders hearts. They realised that it had become an epic international embarrassment & was bad for business. Our leaders are so short sighted that they don’t know they have signed Delhi’s death warrant with the refusal to clean up the poison air. Not only will people die in droves, smarter better resourced people will leave the city. Only those without options will haplessly stay & face a death warrant. This is how cities die. If you were a terminal patient who had to write a will leaving ₹35 crore behind for philanthropy in India to be used up in a year, which entities/causes would you leave it to? This person has no heirs. And wants it disbursed within a year of their death, not annuity stuff.

Why doesn't India invest in infrastructure like China does? When I look at India on Google Maps, I see a lot of areas that look poorly developed. There are few roads, and if they exist, they often seem unattractive. Many homes are clustered together like in a ghetto, and there's litter everywhere. India really needs to address these issues. Public transportation is lacking, which makes me hesitant about visiting. I bet I would love the culture and food, but India needs to focus on building a modern country that improves the quality of life for all its citizens.

@KommawarSwapnil From what I know, they have multiple "categories" of freshers - normal, advanced and expert - kind of. Salaries vary a lot between these categories.

Infosys has raised entry-level salaries for freshers, with packages of upto 21 lakh per annum. 3.5L to direct 21L🧟

Those of us who lived abroad for a long period (like I did, 30 years spent abroad) know just how much India's image abroad has transformed in the past 10 years. That is the real yardstick. We have to thank our Prime Minister for this and that is the reason his popularity is so high with the diaspora.
