@DonAllenIII For me, this falls under "Neat, but idgaf." I mean, I'm not putting on a headset to look at photos. Also, the "memory" that you're "walking into" is the photographer's, not yours, so to me it's not as appealing as it would be for pics I took personally.

@nelcam @dvdaltizer i bought two - in store pickup, buddy is grabbing one as well and he had no issues ordering.

pre-ordering vision pro was the easiest, and most boring pre-order i think i've ever experienced. you can still buy one launch week with in-store pickup almost 20 minutes after it went live. any iPhone pre-order from the last 4 years has been a gamble in the first 30 seconds on whether you get it day one or a month later.

@imPatrickT I’m like this and I can already see my son is like this too. He got into building Gundam and Lego models but once he started doing them in relatively quicker times, he stopped wanting to build anything. So I’m always trying to find ways to keep him interested in certain things.

i don't know if there's an actual diagnosis for this but something i need to take care of in 2024 is what i call "creative execution boredom" as soon as i start to get good at something my level of interest in it dwindles substantially. i love trying stuff, failing, and then eventually cracking the code - but at the end of that journey i hit a moment where i feel like "i did it!" - which normally would be cause for celebration, right? not for me. the chase is over. i almost instantly get bored and no longer want to keep doing it or even get better at it. creating for YouTube really messes with me because it's fun to go hard for a couple days on a video, and see the success, but then i never really want to make that kind of video again... so i start over. i can't stick to one thing. i have some ideas on how to correct this - the main one being to try and focus on one big large goal rather than a bunch of small quick dopamine runs. I need to channel all of this *chase energy* into something that's nearly impossible to do. more short films? documentaries? stuff that takes months, not days. maybe something that even takes a couple years. that way if i get bored after at least i have a whole complete piece of work to show for it, and not a huge library of forgotten micro doses of content. that stuff is fun but it's truly not fulfilling long term. i'll try and keep sharing the journey with videos but mostly i'm just workshopping this out loud.
