I don’t think enough has been written about what we lost in 2016—not because Trump became president (that part we know), but because HRC did not. She was, by far, the most qualified non-incumbent ever. Because she’d already lived in the White House for eight years, there would have been no learning curve. She would have hit the ground running. (Like, she knows where the light switches are in the residence!) No candidate was ever more prepared for every aspect of the job. She is excellent in small groups. She wins people over because she’s brilliant and humble. She had great ideas that would have actually helped people most in need of help. And she had the savvy and the determination to implement them. Hillary Clinton would have been one of the greatest US presidents. That’s a hill I will die on. And our country hasn’t properly mourned this being stolen from us.
Sophie Vershbow@svershbow

You don't have to love her politics, but Hillary has been the smartest person in the room for most of her life and most of you are just too dumb to see it. She spoke at her own college graduation as the first student speaker in Wellesley's history— she's always been that b*tch.

My favorite part about writing is that first spark of an idea. It can happen at any time, for any reason. The idea for the Opalite music video crash landed into my imagination when I was doing promo for The Life of a Showgirl. I was a guest on one of my favorite shows, @TheGNShow. For those of you who aren’t familiar, it’s a UK late night show where Graham Norton (the insanely charismatic and lovable host) invites a random group of actors, entertainers, musicians, etc to be on his show and we all sit there and chat like it’s a dinner party. They even serve wine. Anyway. I remember thinking I got ridiculously lucky with the group I was paired with. Cillian Murphy, Domhnall Gleeson, Greta Lee, Jodie Turner-Smith, and @LewisCapaldi. All people whose work I’ve admired from afar. When we were all talking during the broadcast, Domhnall made a light hearted joke about wanting to be in one of my music videos. He’s Irish! He was joking! Except that in that moment during the interview, I was instantly struck with an *idea*. And so a week later he received an email script I’d written for the Opalite video, where he was playing the starring role. I had this thought that it would be wild if all of our fellow guests on the Graham Norton show that night, including Graham himself, could be a part of it too. Like a school group project but for adults and it isn’t mandatory. To my delight, everyone from the show made the effort to time travel back to the 90’s with us and help with this video. You might even recognize some friendly faces from The Eras Tour. I got to work with one of my favorite people in the world, Rodrigo Prieto, again! I had more fun than I ever imagined - Made new friends, metaphors, and fashion choices. It was an absolute thrill to create this story and these characters. Shot on film. The Opalite video is out now on Spotify & Apple Music. taylor.lnk.to/OpaliteMusicVi…

This really bothers me. I'll admit. As a person of faith I can't understand why a Christian would let this man tell them what makes someone a Christian or not. No politician, right or left, has the authority to do that. Jesus called disciples, some had a Pharisee background, some had Essene backgrounds, some of them were zealots who were ready to kill Roman sympathizers, one was literally a tax collector getting rich by over-charging his community members. Jesus didn't let the political parties of His day dictate who got a seat at the table. I tend to lean left, but I know for a fact that conservatives can also love Jesus and have a seat at His table. If I said otherwise, I'd be telling Jesus He was wrong. This man couldn't quote a single Bible verse any time he's been prompted to do so, he cheated on his first wife with his second wife and cheated on his third wife with a porn star. He asked if we can just shoot protesters in the legs. He sold gilded Bibles with his name on it and put the Declaration of Independence and other American documents alongside the Word of God. And when recently prompted by a reporter who asked how his walk with God was going, Trump responded "well the Evangelicals love me." He does not attend church, does not practice the Christian faith, and props himself up on the Evangelical vote as if it counts as a relationship with Christ. I don't say that to shame him, or exclude him from the possibility of having a seat at Jesus' table. I say that because it affirms he has no place to tell Christians what makes them Christians or doesn't.
Aaron Rupar@atrupar

Trump at the National Prayer Breakfast: "I don't know how a person of faith can vote for a Democrat. I really don't. *crowd groans* I know we have some here today. I don't know why they're here, because they certainly don't give us their vote ... they cheat."

It’s mind blowing to accept that we’re watching the President of the United States do everything in their power to spark a Civil War because he’s a Russian asset who wants to distract from the fact that he was besties with the most notorious pedophile in modern history.

I’ll never forget the people who let one raging madman rewrite their entire personality and value system. Watching folks abandon everything they once claimed to believe just to fall in line and excuse the most heinous behavior will be studied for years by psychologists and historians alike. Donald Trump isn’t just a politician. He’s an infection in the bloodstream of America, and the damage to our national soul is catastrophic.
