I think we're in the Roman Republic dilemma at this point. You can't let people get away with this level of constitutional overreach without punishing them.But to punish them is to play right into the partisan tit for tat retribution cycle,which was what plagued Rome.("Lawfare"?)

Day 10. Feedback from early Newsie users: "I go to add content and I get lost."
The original modal was built with AI. Functional? Yes. Friendly? Not even close. It asked users to find RSS feed URLs and gave them a tutorial on how to do it. Inside the modal.
This is the real story of building with AI. It gets you to v1 fast. But the gap between "it works" and "people actually want to use it" — that's still on you.
New design just shipped:
• "Follow a website" instead of "Add a new publication"
• Paste any URL, we find the feed
• No jargon, no tutorials, bigger buttons

I was this kind of voter in 2016. I took it very seriously. The left had a real opportunity at that moment to be sane and normal and to create a real divide on this issue. Instead they went insane with social justice nonsense, culminating in peak weakness and riots in 2020. At exactly the moment they were trying to convince the world that they were the same alternative, they went completely nuts. And then their next “reasonable, normal candidate” let in unprecedented numbers of illegal immigrants. I don’t believe that there are any reasonable candidates, anymore. You had me. And you lost me. For at least right now, it looks like it’s just the bad choice that aligns with my policy preferences, so far as I can tell. The disconnect here is that the center left still thinks it’s their very reasonable guy against the morally corrupt asshole. But nobody thinks your guy is the reasonable guy, anymore. Nobody thinks that. You completely lost the voters on that front. You had a golden opportunity to be better, and you blew it. And I just think that’s completely your fault.

March 13, 2013, was an awful day. Google announced it was shutting down Google Reader. I felt like I was losing a lobe of my brain.
After years of hopping between services that were never quite as good, I built my own. It's called Newsie.
My favorite part: it comes with a built-in social network. Find your friends, share articles, and comment on stories together. It makes reading the news feel less like doomscrolling alone.
It's early and evolving fast. I'd love for you to try it and tell me what you think.

Mad that a lot of people came into the US under Biden ≠ mad that everyone's basic rights are being illegally trampled, especially *citizens* under Trump.
To equivocate is an *extreme* act of bad faith.
If the Right is really "just as mad," then I don't even know how to have a productive dialogue.

I would just say to liberals that the most basic step necessary for any kind of real dialogue on immigration is an acknowledgment that as mad as you are about ICE, your opponents are just as mad about what happened with immigration under Biden, that anger is understandable and legitimate, and it led directly to a regime change that was in large part predicated on undoing that act.
Your rage is not more important, not more noble, not more legitimate, not more necessary. Your rage exists on equal terms, at the very least, with that of those on the other side of this debate.
