Two and a half years ago before joining @WWF_Australia to develop & lead the Renewables Nation program to help accelerate Australia to be a world leading renewable exporter I wrote this tweet 🧵. On Friday with some sadness I finished up at WWF. A new🧵of some progress we've made

You're taking a job running a #renewable exports campaign? Renewable exports - what's that? Why is it important? THREAD

This is the bible of energy transitions. Do find a quiet place and read it;) The graphs are soooo rich in great data and messaging. Here are my favourite...

Renewables are unstoppable now whether you like it or not. 74% of all newly installed capacity was wind and solar in 2022. Less than 15% was fossil. @BloombergNEF Graph shared by @MLiebreich in his keynote in Brussels at our event last month.

Solar is set to attract more capital than global oil production in 2023 for the first time This reflects the major shift taking place in energy systems around the world. And it's another sign that clean energy is moving faster than many people think iea.li/3Pd828H

Sometimes smart alec Australian climate nerds like me point out that Australia's reporting of emissions from the land sector is not very good, but check this out. Each quarter for the last three years has been identical to the same quarter in the other years.

We are talking about a delay in the closure of Eraring as if it is our only option for secure and reliable power in NSW. It is not. For two reasons.. ow.ly/3JlS50PEc2n

We’re getting rid of gas in new Victorian homes to slash power bills and our emissions. We’re leading the way, phasing it out from all new government buildings. It means healthier schools and hospitals, and cheaper bills for everyone moving into new public or social housing.

Germany gets trashed for two reasons 1) right or wrong they’re showing their is a path to decarb w/o nuclear 2) they paid forward, notably for PV, cost reductions (along with others) They’re a threat to two industries that still have lots of dollars and clout to trash 1/2
