Honoring the life of Rev. Jesse Jackson (1941–2026), a steadfast champion of justice, equality and human dignity. From marching with Dr. King to founding the Rainbow/PUSH Coalition, his voice lifted the marginalized and inspired generations.

Our investment in the Galana Kulalu Food Security Project in Kilifi and Tana River Counties is now bearing fruit. Today we begin the first major maize harvest on 330 acres, with each acre expected to yield 28 to 30 bags. Already, 1,500 acres have been planted. By the end of this year, a further 1,700 acres will be under cultivation, bringing the total to 5,400 acres. This progress, together with our broader agricultural reforms, is driving Kenya towards food security and enabling us to produce surplus for export.

It’s was great catch up with H.E. Abdullswamad S. Nassir, Governor of Mombasa County, as I continue to Chair the Board of the Mombasa Investment Corporation and explore ways to accelerate private sector investment in the county.

@njonjo2012 Interesting article. The work you’ve been doing has the ability to improve the live of millions of Africans. I was intrigued by one small detail. Why would the Samoans have a word for giraffe? According to one of their senior representatives they don’t.

Food spend by households: 1. Only 4 counties spend less than 50.0% of income on food - Nairobi, Mombasa, Kiambu & Kajiado 2. Counties in Western & Nyanza regions that are expected to have food spend about 2/3rds of income on food 3. Highest food expenditure is in Turkana (76.2%) and Wajir (71.0%)

In this chart, KIPPRA flags the growing concern of a rise in the 'working poor' in Kenya as the minimum wage falls far short of the costs of living wage.
