Our daughter, Rachel Corrie, was killed in 2003 in Gaza, while trying to protect a Palestinian home facing illegal destruction by the Israeli military. She was 23 years old. The massive, armored Caterpillar D-9 bulldozer that crushed her was operated by two Israeli soldiers and manufactured in the United States. It was the same type of militarized bulldozer that US presidents from George W. Bush through to Donald Trump have delivered to Israel. Today, as the destruction of Palestinian homes has only become more commonplace, not to mention the horror of Israel’s genocide, Senator Bernie Sanders will force a vote in the Senate to try to end this cycle of death by banning the transfer of D-9 bulldozers to Israel. We hope he will not take this stand alone. No policy can bring back those taken from us by these actions—children and other loved ones. But the Senate now has an opportunity to honor the memories of our daughter, other Americans, and thousands of Palestinian civilians killed, and to show that their deaths, and all the destruction, will no longer be condoned and funded. We hope those elected to represent us, the American people, understand the message that voting to block these D-9 bulldozers will send. This will not be a symbolic gesture, but a concrete step toward the protection of human life. thenation.com/article/politi…

My city, Beit Hanoun, a city once home to 50,000 people, the “green city” that exported citrus and olives to the world. Its hospitals and clinics, its schools and mosques, its kindergartens and bridges, its homes, streets, and infrastructure, everything was completely bombed. And after it was bombed, it was bulldozed, until the city became a barren desert filled with piles of rubble. Here, the “most moral” army committed a genocide, leaving not a single house undestroyed, not even an olive tree remains.

Israel is destroying southern Lebanon. This is not war, it’s deliberate annihilation. Where is the outrage or media coverage?

Absolute horror on Al Jazeera. Israeli forces just deliberately shot and killed a World Health Organization employee in Gaza. They opened fire on a UN vehicle, injuring multiple staff members. Israel is intentionally targeting the United Nations with zero accountability.

I have not seen a single mainstream media outlet give this the attention it deserves. Israel blew up an entire Lebanese town, an ancient place. It should be headline news. There’s footage of it happening. Imagine this was your town, and you saw every building blown up by a terrorist army to prevent you from ever returning. You would at the very least expect wall to wall coverage. Instead it passes without a word. It’s not the only town Israel has blown up. And sadly it probably won’t be the last.

Members of Iran’s Jewish community standing in the rubble of their synagogue in Tehran. Bombed by Israel. On Passover. Iran is home to the largest Jewish population in the Middle East outside of Israel. They have lived there for 2,700 years. This is who Israel bombed on the holiest night of the Jewish calendar.

JUST IN: You do not fire your Army Chief of Staff in the middle of a war for no reason. You fire him because of what comes next. Pete Hegseth called General Randy George on April 2 and told him to retire immediately. The Pentagon confirmed it within hours. No reason was given. Not publicly. Not privately. A senior Army official told Fox News that Hegseth offered George nothing: no misconduct, no operational failure, no policy disagreement on the record. Just a phone call and a career ending in the middle of the most significant American combat operation in two decades. George is the 24th general or admiral Hegseth has removed. But he is not the 24th. He is the one that matters. The Army Chief of Staff. The man whose signature sits between a president’s intent and the order that sends soldiers across a beach or into a tunnel complex. The 82nd Airborne is deploying right now. Marines from the 31st MEU are staged on the USS Tripoli. JSOC operators are at forward bases in Israel, Jordan, Saudi Arabia, and the UAE. Kharg Island, 90 percent of Iranian oil exports, sits 16 kilometres off a coast that someone will have to decide whether to approach. And the four-star general whose job it was to advise whether that approach should happen was removed 48 hours after Trump told the nation the war would continue for two to three more weeks. The replacement is Vice Chief General Christopher LaNeve. He was Hegseth’s senior military aide before this appointment. The man who carried the Secretary’s briefcase now commands the Army the Secretary is reshaping. The chain of command did not break. It shortened. The distance between a television studio and a combat order just collapsed to zero intermediaries who were not personally selected by the man giving the order. No reason was given. That is the tell. When someone is removed without explanation during a crisis, the explanation is the crisis itself. George either objected to something or was about to. The ground option. The power plant strikes. The Kharg raid. The escalation that turned a highway bridge in Karaj into rubble on the same day he was told to leave. Something in the next two weeks requires a chief who will not push back, and the Pentagon solved that problem by installing one trained as Hegseth’s aide. A former Fox News weekend host just fired a four-star general with combat tours in Iraq and Afghanistan, replaced him with his own former assistant, and did it during a live war in which the next decision could put American soldiers on Iranian soil for the first time in history. No hearing was held. No misconduct cited. The Army woke up on April 3 with a new chief it did not choose, in a war it did not start, preparing for a phase the previous chief apparently could not be trusted to execute. The question is not why George was fired. Every general in the building knows why. The question is what order is coming in the next fourteen days that required removing the one man in the chain of command who might have said no. The war has no perimeter. The chain of command has no objectors. And the next phase has no one left to stop it. open.substack.com/pub/shanakaans…

Israel just dropped bombs on another ambulance today in Tyre, South Lebanon. An ambulance. People trying to save lives. The world is normalizing attacks on medical workers doing their jobs. This is a war crime. And a crime against humanity.

People need to understand that Israeli officials wearing noose pins & popping champagne to celebrate the systematic extermination of thousands of Palestinians held in Israeli torture camps is functionally no different from nazis gloating about their gas chambers. Evil incarnate.

This is what a maternity hospital in Odesa looks like after a Russian attack. Russia has attacked countless maternity homes and hospitals in Ukraine. This is pure genocide.
Anton Gerashchenko@Gerashchenko_en

Odesa 💔 Last night, Russia launched a massive attack on the city. One person killed, 11 more injured, a child among them. A maternity home, schools, residential buildings, critical infrastructure damaged. Russia continues its war crimes of attacking Ukrainian civilians.

Imagine Biden’s FCC chair going to a left-wing conference and bragging about getting Fox hosts fired and new liberal ownership for rightwing media outlets.

FCC Chair: Trump is winning. Look at the results—PBS and NPR defunded. Joy Reid, Sleepy-Eyed Chuck Todd, Jim Acosta, John Dickerson are gone. Colbert is leaving. CBS is under new ownership, and soon enough CNN will have new ownership as well.

I'm an American trauma surgeon. One year ago today I was volunteering at Nasser Medical Complex in Gaza when Israel fired a missile into the room of my 16-year-old patient, Ibrahim Barhoum. The missile killed him instantly. If it had hit the room 90 seconds later it would have killed me, too. Today the US and Israel are still blocking medical supplies from entering Gaza, and are repeating the assault on hospitals and healthcare workers across Lebanon. This is nothing but barbarism. It must be stopped.

The genocide of Palestinians has not ended. Israeli soldiers just murdered Ali and Waed Odeh and two of their children, while wounding their other two children. Congress can’t turn a blind eye to the horrors happening to Palestinians in the West Bank and Gaza. We must hold the Israeli government accountable. That starts by passing Block the Bombs. Not one more dollar, not one more excuse.

Israeli soldiers fired on a car carrying a family in the northern West Bank, killing four people including two children, the Palestinian Authority’s Health Ministry says. Israel’s military and police said in a joint statement that the shooting was under investigation. nbcnews.com/world/middle-e…

🚨 Footage emerging from Tehran shows a strike producing a massive mushroom cloud over the city. This is not a nuclear weapon. This is what a massive conventional ordnance strike looks like in a city of 10 million people. Bunker busters. MOABs. Thermobaric weapons. All capable of producing this. All legal under no framework when deployed over a civilian population center. 10 million people live in Tehran. That lied about dead schoolgirls. That told civilian mariners to sail into a war zone. That launched this war on “a feeling.” Is now dropping ordnance large enough to produce mushroom clouds over a capital city. What is the target? What is the justification? Who authorized it? We don’t know. Because they don’t tell us anything.
