On Monday, the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) launched a fierce assault on the city of Dilling in South Kordofan, coinciding with an intensification of fighting near the city of Rahad in North Kordofan. Army sources told Ayin that the RSF attacked Dilling from three directions. According to a local military source, the army quickly repelled the first two assaults, but a third, highly violent wave advanced from the north. This marks the second RSF attack on Dilling in less than two weeks, following a repulsed assault on March 26. Meanwhile, fierce battles also raged near Al-Rahad, North Kordofan State, where an RSF source told Ayin they successfully ambushed an army unit, sharing online videos of destroyed military vehicles.

Après la prise de Kurmuk par les FSR et le SPLM-N (qui ont traversé la frontière éthiopienne), les FSR poussent dans l'Etat du Nil Bleu. Aujourd'hui, ils se sont emparés d'une petite base dans le village de Maqja (11.078779, 33.892678) à 90km au sud de la grande ville de Damazin et 65km en profondeur dans le territoire soudanais. Il est certain que les FSR et le SPLM-N ne sont pas présent dans cette région par magie. Ils ont été acheminés par les Emirats-Arabes-Unis en avion vers l'Ethiopie, ou en traversant le Soudan du Sud. Une base des FSR a été construite il y a 8 mois dans l'ouest de l'Ethiopie pour servir de base arrière à au moins 10 000 combattants, notamment des mercenaires. La chute de Kurmuk est un déclencheur puisque la ville est tombée après une offensive venue du territoire éthiopien, ce qui place Addis Abeba au cœur du conflit au Soudan. La suite des combats sera très intéressante, car les FSR espèrent élargir ce nouveau front sud pour forcer l'armée soudanaise à déployer des renforts depuis la région du Kordofan ou elle est engagée. Les FSR tenteront probablement de prendre les quelques bases à l'ouest de la route Kurmuk-Damazin avant de remonter jusqu'au Nil Bleu. La situation constitue une nouvelle escalade qui pourrait menacer à terme le sud du pays, les terres fertiles et même jusqu'à Khartoum.
