the Argentinian claim to Falklands/Malvinas is just “theyre right there though” and the map game player in me is forced to agree, that is an unimpeachable claim.

@originalnameM @fakecel_0 @AniBanani188205 @grandaljotape "Why", well, so that they can control the land they live at? And theyre british, yes, thats why it is a colony in case you didnt yet understand what that means. And what do you mean "colonize them back"? You agree the malvinas were argentinian then?

@grandaljotape This is more like, "We want our neighbours' house. They all agree we can't have it, but we think we should take it anyway."

@ElAvatarTang @avanticult it's been 200 years, by this standard large swaths of most countries, including yours, have no right to self determination. maybe you should admit that this a petty nationalist grievance where you feel you're owed something based on geography.

@avanticult British subjects brought to replace the previous Argentine population after a military invasion. They aren't entitled to self determination.

I have been made aware of chronically online ‘anti-imperialist’ (when in actuality they’re apologetic for military juntas, and fascist) Argentines trying to claim the falklands yet again. I wish to remind them that, the Falklands are British and they always shall be. Thank you!

@Skeleman71 Act 1: I kick the original settlers. Act 2: i put sum biritsh fkers on an island down in south america Act 3: I ask them if they want to continue being biritsh. *Somehow thinks this is a gotcha against legit claims from Argentina*

It’s actually very simple -The Islands were uninhabited prior to European settlement -They never once belonged to Argentina -Most importantly, they voted 99.8% yes in a referendum to remain British Meanwhile the Argentine claim is “gimme gimme gimme I want it”

soy un zurdo antimperialista pero te voy a pasar a explicar porque Gran Bretaña tiene un derecho soberano y territorial legitimo sobre un dominio colonial centenario a mas de 13.000km de distancia

@originalnameM @estacancelame @MrGeorgSplatoon @its_hipolita i think this is just a translation problem you’re having, they’re saying it’s a “european colonial state” as in a state that was established via european colonialism, that’s different from being a coloniser/colonial empire

@aledornell 1813: The UK recongizes the islands belong to Argentina 1833: The UK invades the islands a argentine population and their government, houses and buildings. Imagine tomorrow China invades the U.S. Virgin Islands and they claim therr were never americans i there how mad you'll be

You're plainly wrong. The islands' population were brought in the 1840's to replace the previous Argentine one. Such a population isn't entitled to external self determination. It is indeed a colonial issue, as recognised by UNGA resolution 2065 and others.
Jack D 🏳️‍🌈@JackDunc1

I’m a lefty anti-imperialist, but Argentina is wrong on the Falklands The islands have never had an Argentinian population. Falklanders predate Argentina, and 99% voted to stay British This isn’t a colonial issue. It’s used by ARG's far right to distract from domestic problems.
