1) the Falklands were originally illegally seized from Argentina in 1833. BUT they have been British ever since. 2) throughout the 1960s and 70s, Argentina negotiated in good faith to trade ownership. They offered concessions, such as “Falklanders won’t have to serve in rhe army.” The British teams all recommended the transfer. Each UK government punted it to the next. Was Argentina right to invade? Of course not. The Falklanders’ opinion should be taken into account! Plus the major reason for the attack was because the junta was looking for distractions. But I can’t help but think that it would be cheapest for Argentina to pay each Falklander a million dollars (costing about 3.5 billion) to move away.

an "implanted colonial population" is when previously uninhabited islands whose closest land neighbours are the Argentine-occupied indigenous lands of the Aónikenk, the Haush and the Selk'nam are inhabited by British people instead of Spanish people

@TrueSlazac Like 20-30% of Argentines would be considered White under European and North American standards. The overwhelming majority is mixed and carries Native ancestry.

When it was put to a referendum only 3 people voted not to remain a British territory, 1513 people voted yes.
Meanwhile the Argentine position is that they inherited the 200 year old claims of the Spanish empire and are entitled to a territory that never once belonged to them.

The islands were uninhabited when Britain claimed them. All this is proof of is that Argentina keeps trying to take the Falklands.
