A few months ago I made Tidy.js, a javascript data wrangling package modeled after #rstats dplyr. It works on plain arrays of js objects. Curious if there'd be any interest in this lib if I were to open source it (currently it's internal to Netflix) esp given arquero now exists.

@adamwathan @leerob I feel like multicursor editing was the first step in this direction. The gateway drug to duplication

I'm thinking about this a lot lately — did we only ever create abstractions to avoid duplication, and now is maintaining duplication actually not really a problem? I'm working on this very componentized marketing site kit product we're building and can't shake the feeling that maybe reusable components won't be as helpful long term as reference snippets an LLM can copy and edit in bulk for you if you ever want to change something across all of them.

I migrated cursor.com from a CMS to raw code and Markdown. I had estimated it would take a few weeks, but was able to finish the migration in three days with $260 in tokens and hundreds of agents. Here's how I did it + all my my usage stats. leerob.com/agents

there was a brain grenade lofted my way today... "what's the coolest basketball data visualization you've seen someone else create?" 💥🫨 can't pick one, so here's a thread of a few of my all-time favs, starting with these 3D-printed shot charts from @flowingdata 😍😍😍

All technology evaluation should take into account the state of publicly available patterns of that tech (tutorials, sample code, etc) before September 2021.

@NadiehBremer Yea exactly. I find the waves draw my attention the most and feels more like a focal point drowning out the constellations as is, so maybe more subtle would feel more balanced. Still looks good either way— it’s just a different focus, at least for me

@pbesh LOL, rainbow bacon, can't unsee that now 😂 You mean to have less difference in the purple, so darker purple that ends on the outside than I currently have? Def a beach vibe (by accident), but I'm drawn to the idea of such graphical and un-space colors, something bold

Been playing with an idea to create very graphical Milky Way streaks across the back - The purple approach is fine, but is it good enough? - The rainbow is too distracting from the stars I think - The aqua/beige was a bug, but I might like it the most of all 🤔😅 Any thoughts?

I have a very overwrought and computationally expensive outline Svelte action I apply to chart labels (expensive at scale of a linked mouseover w/ lots of text). It turns out I can set paint-order=stroke and just stroke the text instead to get the same punch-out effect

Today @colbyrabideau blew our team’s 🧠 by ungating our most requested feature to all @metaplane users...live on a team call. I won’t give too much away, but it’s one of the best-executed features of its kind in the data space. Grateful to be on this team!

@smtology @Elijah_Meeks @DataVizSociety I think we did handle quote tweets but I don't remember the details unfortunately. The research lab had elevated access to Twitter APIs so it made it a bit easier to do things like this

@pbesh @Elijah_Meeks @DataVizSociety That is a beautiful cesspool! Can you reference being shown here? And does this accommodate quote tweets somehow? (Actually Elijah's doesn't currently handle that either...)

@flybayer I'm not sure if this is the easiest per se, but definitely very cool and flexible. Not sure I've seen a complete toolkit for something like this yet though twitter.com/pbesh/status/1… Using react-three-fiber, super nice library to work with.
Peter Beshai@pbesh

Put together a little #dataviz proof of concept during a hack week at work last week. It's a 3D faceted search UI using #reactjs, #threejs, and react-three-fiber. 50,000 objects at 60 FPS in the browser is pretty sweet!!

we can _finally_ talk about an experiment @GitHubNext in the works for a long time: GitHub Blocks! tldr ✨ There's a lot more to your codebase than just.. code. We want to make it easier to create interactive docs, support your team workflows, and bring your repo to life ✨ 🧵
