I had a dream that I booked the @ckuaradio wind-powered revolving stage at the folk fest. Right as my set started the wind picked up and the stage began to spin out of control. CKUA should really power that stage with turbines instead of mechanical wind power.

@peakcapitolism I don't disagree with your main point, but lots of poor folks in northern climates supplement their diets by hunting and fishing. Vegetables are expensive, unreliable and not calorie dense. My own family ate tons of deer and game birds into like the 1950s

There is simply no way before refrigeration that working people are eating non preserved meat multiple times a day or multiple kinds of meat in one meal

Thinking about the fact that Italian cuisine mostly dates to the 1960s has me thinking about how the false historicity of a lot of food normalizes the absolutely insane amounts of meat consumption we have in the first world

When the average American parent hears about a traffic calming project, the instinct is to be annoyed that they'll have to slow down while rushing their kids somewhere. But after a parent loses their child in a preventable crash, they become a safe streets champion. Traffic calming is suddenly an obvious solution. There's no reason to keep increasing the number of grieving parents. ⏺️ Bad street design encourages bad driving habits. ⏺️ Good street design encourages good driving habits.
