@peterjmillard @kevin_steer At trade discount from my local Jewsons (5 min walk up the road) they do 18mm marine for £54. This ply was lower grade at £32. MRMDF (caberwood pro) comes in at £42/18mm. Whilst not Medite, looks pretty flat. See how it takes a finish later this week!

Joinery friends, where are you buying 18mm ply these days? Doesn’t have to be gap free necessarily, but nice and flat. Making a kitchen. Will have face frames, so the ends won’t be visible. Thanks in advance. Shame my local merchant only has ‘S’ shapes

@DefineTheLight @kevin_steer I’ve been very impressed with some Malaysian ply my local timberyard has - lovely face veneers, just paper-thin - and I pay £30 for 9mm. Otherwise Marine ply is a great option if you can get it. In a post-birch world I pay £90-ish/sheet for 18mm. Birch is still £150-ish. 😕

@kevin_steer Cheers Kevin. I’m only painting the face frames and doors. Where there’s a visible end panel, that will be MRMDF. Will be a hand painted roller finish (@peterjmillard inspired). Should be a fun project. Will inspect the Ply prior to delivery next time! My local place £32/sheet!

I’ve been pottering at the garage this week and after @peterjmillard made me so jealous with his video about the Festool SYS 50 I decided to turn my old tile saw into a table saw! I managed to locate a blade that fitted and made Perspex panels to keep the dust in! Works a treat👍

@peterjmillard That’s a shame it seemed like that could be such an easy way to use 240v if needed. Maybe they will combat that at some point. Seems like a lovely bit of kit. I’m currently adapting my wet tile saw to give me a cheap alternative. Quiet and all dust straight into the machine!

@peterjmillard watched your video the other day on the Festool CSC SYS 50. Would this mains adapter for the Bluetooth extractor fit the saw? Just wondering as looking at the position of the battery on the back it could be possible?

@peterjmillard Update any of your Bluetooth batteries via your iPhone… that helped me. You don’t need the android device for that. It might be enough to get you through the startup.

So… The problems with integrating electronics into wood working tools is well docmented. I bought the #festool CSC SYS 50. Loveley but expensive piece of kit. However currently a brick until I can update the software. Via a client only available on Android. Thanks @Festool_GB.

@dominic_giles Thanks for the update! I don’t own an Android device, so this will make for an ‘interesting’ video if this is a requirement!

@peterjmillard finally got it working. Having to use an android device to update the firmware is a pain. And I’m not even sure that was needed. It seemed to spring to like when we updated the firmware in the batteries (via Bluetooth).

@dominic_giles @Festool_GB Ouch! I don’t have mine yet, it appreciate the heads-up! Saws that need software updates… 😬

You asked me to keep you in the loop @peterjmillard. I would strongly advise you to update the software on the saw before you do anything else… There were no instructions from @Festool_GB telling me to do that. Currently I have a expensive aluminium brick.

@DefineTheLight In your own home Scott, or someone else’s? I ask because I’ve had an MRMDF bathroom cabinet painted in water-based acrylic in our bathroom for about 8 years, without any issues. But we keep it tidy and don’t leave puddles of water on the surface. 👍

Twitter friends, I’m building a small bathroom cabinet on which will sit a glass bowl style sink. The unit has been made from some old pine I had rescued from a skip (newel posts of all things). I’m thinking MR MDF for the top (painted - water resist eggshell). Not wise?

Hey @dhlexpressuk I booked and paid for a collection on Thursday that didn’t happen. Website advised that collection would happen next day and it didn’t. Customer services now closed until Monday, what’s a paying customer supposed to do?? 🤷‍♂️

@SquarespaceHelp Suddenly having issues logging in to my squarespace site and store - works OK on one computer, but getting password rejected on others. Having help behind a login not very helpful, when the issue is the login. Have reset password, still having the issue. 🤷‍♂️🤔
