@DVDPlassie I don't have a horse in this race – but if developers building solochains are using Ink! Shouldn't they perhaps shoulder some of the monetary burden? Not just the Polkadot treasury?

The ink! community, private messages, so many devs hurt by Polkadot's decision. With the current capabilities of AI the alliance could have worked on an even higher pace and give Polkadot Hub a Rust Smart Contract language with the most supreme developer experience in the space and a passionate community of talented developers. I literally cant, there has to be a way.

This is cool! but... #notweb3 just a fancy off-ramp service. We basically use crypto to buy Euro balance on a pre-paid card with a 2% fee. - No self custody - No crypto wallet - KYC Waiting for next stages... - when will merchants accept payments in crypto? - when will we be able to transact P2P without a centralized intermediary? I am still dreaming with a crypto native payment system with mass adoption.

A major security vulnerability in the @Polkadot SDK has put multiple parachains, including @AstarNetwork, at risk. The issue? A bug in the Polkadot SDK allowed malicious actors to craft a nested call that could halt an entire parachain. This was no theory: it had already taken @bittensor_ offline. They knew they had to move fast. On May 23, 2025, at 3:20 PM UTC, the @AstarNetwork team received the alert. 20 minutes later, a white-hat hacker submitted a working proof-of-concept via @immunefi. The risk was real. The exploit was public. The clock was ticking. ⏱️ By 7:15 PM, the @AstarNetwork team had built and tested a secure patch: Runtime 1501. ✅ Included all features from Runtime 1500 ✅ Fully eliminated the vulnerability ✅ Backward-compatible with no downtime Within minutes, Runtime 1501 was deployed via sudo across @AstarNetwork, @ShidenNetwork, and Shibuya. Why sudo? Because even the fastest governance path would have taken hours, it's too risky with an exploit in the wild. The network stayed secure. No funds lost. No downtime. The @AstarNetwork team chose speed over procedure because lives (and ledgers) were on the line. Using sudo was a deviation from their commitment to decentralization. So here’s what they're doing to avoid it next time: • Define formal emergency upgrade procedures • Train governance teams for fast-track execution • Improve tooling and response times Referendum #22, which contained the vulnerable logic, was also cancelled via Council Motion #23. Security had to come first. The patched Runtime 1501 includes all planned updates safely. Transparency matters. @GldnCalf We do have talent but that's never enough. We are hiring at least 20 engineers this year. See parity.io/careers. But globally talent is not the main issue.

@pierreaubert You have all the talent you need? It is not so on fronts managed by OpenGov. Some progress - but more contributors aligning with willing leaders is needed.

I disagree: we definitely have the talent. For leadership i will let you judge.

Exclude Circle & Tether, top 8 projects = ~55.5% of revenue last yr. 500+ others share ~44.5%. tldr: • Nothing new. Tether & Circle = best businesses in crypto. Together, make up ($7.4B) over 52% of total revenue. • L1s still dominate: ~1/3 of rest. • Bots are outperforming AMMs • SocialFi kinda flopped. Friendtech, Lens, Farcaster all generated less than a single decent meme bot. Only Farcaster remains relevant at this point. • Infra tolls (Dexscreener, Zeebu) actually monetize decently within their niche. Ethereum still top w/ $943M+. TRON feasting on stablecoin txs, still defacto for that. But the most successful products this cycle are Web3 Casinos. And that’s exactly what the market is rewarding and optimizing for. Pumpfun with $595M. Hyperliquid, pulling in $174M in less than half a year. You also see Phantom ($388M) and Photon ($345M), both outperforming nearly everything else. New UX plays especially for better casino experience (intent-based, bundling, MEV-aware routing) eating trad AMMs. And therefore, new builders are much more incentived to build the next better trading bot and pumpfun. Beside that in general, wallets and infra tools are monetizing well too whether it’s routing, swaps, data, or affiliate flows. You can now make good money just by a frontend without touching core assets. And rounding out the rest of the list, Solana ecosystem products continue to dominate: Jupiter, BonkBot, Raydium, Kamino etc. So it’s evident, this cycle, the market isn’t rewarding ethos, decentralization, resilience. It’s rewarding dopamine loops, sniping flows, and speculative UX for wild desires.
