An IAS officer, Dr Chaturvedi is Addl. Chief Secretary, Agriculture in Uttar Pradesh. He has served in various departments over years such as Higher Education, Agriculture, Personnel and Training, Tourism. He was the man in charge for Maha Kumbh mela in 2013 at Allahabad.
