The DePIN market has declined by over 74% in 2025.
@Old_Samster, Managing Partner at @UnsupervisedCap, told @beincrypto that the weakness across the altcoin market has naturally affected DePIN as well.
According to him, macro conditions explain part of the sector’s slowdown, but not all of it. The deeper issue, he said, is that there has not been a “breakout DePIN yet.”
“The other side of the coin is that DePINs are building real infrastructure and real businesses. That takes a long time, which the crypto market isn’t wired for. Investors are used to fast-moving narratives and overnight successes,” Kassab added.

My takeaway from yesterday is that the Bittensor pitch is still pretty complex and would benefit from being simplified. But it was extremely valuable to be able to experiment with different explanations with Thread.
Regardless of how complex Bittensor is, I still think its success is inevitable. And that's because even now with how complex it is, you still have Subnets that have broken into the mainstream like Chutes, selling to enterprises like Targon, and being used by developers like Ridges.
The ins and outs of Bittensor don't need to be clearly understood for one to comprehend what a Subnet is working on and why its investable. All one needs to know is holding TAO gives one exposure to all Subnets
