Finally managed to visit 8th century BagaLi Kalleshwara temple. Probably the only temple in Karnataka developed by all 4 major dynasties, Rashtrakutas, Chalukyas, Hoysalas and Vijayanagara. (Thread)

During World War II, high grade silk parachute fabric was manufactured in Bangalore using Japanese technology, for the Allied forces (Most likely in Tata silk farm, Basavanagudi). Pretty dark, considering Japan was at war with them!

Could be a mere coincidence that the first Cafe Coffee Day outlet with a cyber café attached to it opened on 11th July 1996 in Bangalore. If I remember correctly, they charged around ₹150 for an hour.

It was him that was driving the motorboat that night at 200 nautical miles per hour. confirmed by himself to the police While a legend was left behind in open waters, the support boat reportedly took Singhania to safety, carried two other female passengers, and then he flew back to Mumbai. He even refused to to provide his personal info to hospital when he was brought to felidhu for injuries. In the most critical moment, loyalty was replaced by self-preservation. This isn’t just a tragedy it feels like abandonment. Gautam Singhania hasn’t even given a formal explanation of what happened, despite being present at the scene. @SanandanaYS Yeah..anyday. If you remember old Dwaraka on bull temple road, they used to have instruction boards hanging on the walls which said no “No 3rd serving of chutney” 😄

@dankchikidang @_CreatingWealth True, majority of them come from Salem and Hosur districts. Also, this won’t get implemented because good 20-30% are from Mus*im community and INC won’t take risk with them at this stage. Also, we saw what happened in Gandhibazar years ago when they tried to implement this.

@_CreatingWealth Firstly these aren’t street hawkers but cartels who run street hawking business. The poor people are mostly day workers hired by cartel owners (usually a local politician).

Stupid logic. If you want to remove cars and 2W, ban parking on the roads. Run Buses.
To make footpaths usable, ban street vendors. They put up stalls and invite shoppers to park haphardly on the roads, slow down parking, force pedestrians to walk on roads, slow down traffic and now everyone wants to use their personal vehicles because it's so slow to move on the roads.
Roads must be for vehicles to move.
Footpaths must be for people to walk.
Neither should be used to park anything.

unpopular opinion - hawkers are pretty great tbh. cheap food, lively streets, better safety. the real problem is cars. cars just eat up all the space and always want more. for driving. for parking.... so hear me out - have day and night time hawking zones. 7pm - midnight should be peak hawking time. midnight - 4 am night hawking. increase total quantum of hawking but shift it out of peak commuting hours. but of course, what is to stop people from breaking those rules also? nothing. if we don't have rule of law we cannot have nice things.
