NELFUND doesn’t give you your school fees. So this is a big lie. Here is how it works; When you register for NELFUND, they only ask you for two information. The name of your university and your matric number. When you provide that information, If your institution is on the @NELFUND system, your details come up automatically. Your name. Department. Level. Fees for the session. When you apply for the loan, it gets processed. And when approved, they PAY DIRECTLY TO THE SCHOOL. So saying NELFUND gave a certain amount to the person is entirely false. The only money a student can receive directly is the monthly upkeep stipend, and that is optional. So when you hear claims that NELFUND “gave someone money”, understand the structure before spreading it. I know you don’t like the current administration. That is your right. But you don’t have to lie to drive your agenda.

The Shagamu-Ore Road executed by President Tinubu’s administration on concrete pavement. Have we had this much road projects going on simultaneously across all states like this in Nigeria before?

I took this vehicle's picture because of the Hausa inscription on it. The one at the top is "A gama lafiya" which basically means safe travels. The one I'm really interested in is the second one that reads "Hassada mugun ciwo" which means envy is a terrible disease. In the second picture is a screenshot from our regular ambassadors of envy, replying to a post from US Mission in Nigeria that's Celebrating Tunde's Guinness World Record feat. Envious people are sick people. They know no joy or bliss. They're haunted by the progress of others. Indeed, envy is a terrible disease.

You will do well not to address the Commander in Chief of Nigeria as “moron”. If you don’t respect his person, do well to respect his position as your President. Now to your question, loans by its nature are not compulsory and only those having the need to take loans will decide to do so. The fact that I didn’t take loans to fund my university education does not mean that there are no other students who would not wish to take loans for purposes of funding their education, if they are reliable channels to do so. This government has created that channel for those that have the need to take the NELFUND loans for their education, and that’s something we should be applauding and not criticizing. People coming out to give testimony on how the initiative has helped them graduate, that count for something, if you are unbiased with your thinking. Even if I go back to school now, I won’t take the NELFUND loans, that’s not because it is not helping others or because it is bad in anyway. It is because I have the means to fund my education, so there is no need taking loans.

@OgarEmmaOwogeka Did you fund your university education with student loans in the Past before this moron took power?"

A testimony about President Tinubu’s policy impact that should keep Peter Obi, Atiku, Kwankwaso quiet for ever. The NELFUND policy was intentional, to help students like Caleb, who would have been denied the dream of tertiary education, because of parental financial challenges.

I just went through the comments and quotes on Oladepo Caleb Okugbenga's post. He credited NELFUND for supporting him in becoming the Best Graduating Student of LAUTECH, but the dishonesty in some replies is alarming. You can criticize the Tinubu government for many things, some of it valid, but when it comes to NELFUND, let us be honest. It is a lifesaver. I am a 500-level medical student at UI. I have been on NELFUND for three consecutive years. They recently paid my school fees and the fees of thousands of UI students this session. That is not a rumor. That is real. NELFUND currently supports students with full academic fee payment sent directly to the school and a monthly upkeep allowance of twenty thousand naira paid directly to the student. Now let me address the common lies people spread. Some say it is a loan, so it is not helpful. Yes, it is a loan, but it is interest-free. Tell me one loan app in Nigeria that gives you zero interest. Others say the repayment is a burden. But repayment only starts after you have graduated, finished NYSC, and found a job. If you are unemployed, you pay nothing. If you lose your job, the payments stop automatically. That is not a burden. That is safety. Some people claim NELFUND has no impact on students. That is simply false. I am an admin in a group helping students apply successfully. Many higher institutions and scholarship bodies now advise students to take advantage of this loan so they can use their own money for other needs that bring financial stability. Another lie is that the government made education expensive just to introduce the loan. Federal schools are still highly subsidized. We all know what our mates in private schools pay per session, millions of naira. Our fees, even after adjustments, are a fraction of that. Most of the people throwing shade at NELFUND are not even in school anymore. They have no idea how the scheme operates today. Let me be clear. I am not saying we should stop scrutinizing government spending. We absolutely should. But when a good initiative works, we must have the maturity to acknowledge it. NELFUND is keeping real students in school. That is a fact. Let us not allow dishonesty to rob others of this opportunity.

Let’s leave NELFUND alone for now. None of you supposed critics have for once mentioned that short term certificates at Federal Technical Colleges in Nigeria, under Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) are now free tuition with accommodation and monthly stipends. By the same APC Government you love to hate. Anyone with critical thinking will understand how important and impactful this is, considering the fact that the informal sector of the economy takes a larger share of the employment market in Nigeria. Nigerian youths are literally learning skills and for free, to fit into the labour market that’s is there for the taking. When they graduate, they get tools needed to kick start their jobs. Focus Areas: Welding, Tailoring, ICT, Carpentry, electrical work.
