@sterespect @kane Not guilty due to insanity is a painfully dumb thing to have on the books if you think about it for like 5 minutes. The obvious, sane version is guilty due to insanity, and then they're sent to an asylum to serve their term and - more importantly - are held until proven sane.

Capcom did a LOT to have Ethan feel like a self-insert rather than a distinct character, so it's weird that they then narratively punish you (twice) for doing self insert things and choosing options other than what they think Ethan would do.
