It looks like I'm not the only person who wants an AWS region which breaks all the time for testing purposes. Now for the harder question, what should it be called?

I want to have an AWS region where everything breaks with high frequency. EC2 networks dropping packets, EBS volumes hanging and failing, entire AZs dropping offline, etc. If it breaks 0.001% of the time in us-east-1, I want it to break 1% of the time in us-fail-1. #awswishlist

@ptlamar Good to hear this perspective. I've been going back and forth about how many contributors to bring into the upcoming Service Mesh Patterns - layer5.io/books/service-…. So many patterns to share.

One of my favorite things about these books is all the different people who were interviewed or directly contributed to author them. Varied perspectives really adds value

@jorisroovers Just digging into it myself, but been more security focused in my old age. It's awesome that SQL injection has been the #1 security risk for at least the last dozen years. Its the one field that my undergrad courses are still relevant!

@ptlamar Still need to read the latest one, is it as good as the previous ones? More focused on security I guess.

@ibuildthecloud To this end, an ideal conference talk would be 10 mins on a topic and then 30 min to discuss in round tables in a topic, then you could have the hallway discussions in a room and more people could take part.

@ibuildthecloud Thanks for sharing, I have had similar thoughts. Conference talks tend to be beginner level to appeal to a broader audience but it makes them hard to get value from. It can be so much more valuable to go deeper with a few experts.

I've never attended a conference for the actual content of the conference. The only reason I go is to meet people in person. I've never been a huge conference fan (unless I'm speaking, I really enjoy speaking) and this whole virtual thing has just killed it for me.

Forms of self-employment income for developers: 🔴 SaaS: Takes a long time for meaningful returns. 🟢 Info Products: High volatility, unpredictable, potential for extremely high ROI. 🔵 Freelancing: Predictable, stable, choose your own hours. Mix together for maximum effect!
