Today #SB8J_1, the 1st meeting of the Subsidiary Body on Article 8(j) of the CBD, begins in Panama City. Consensus at #COP16Colombia delivered the historic agreement that established it. We owe it to indigenous peoples and local communities around 🌍 to make that moment count.

The @UNBiodiversity new Subsidiary Body on Article 8(j) (traditional knowledge, innovation, and practices), SB8J-1 began its inaugural meeting today in Panama. This is a historic milestone for Indigenous Peoples, like the Kalinago people and local communities across the region.

#SB8J just wrapped up a historic first meeting in Panama City. This Subsidiary Body is the outcome of decades of advocacy. #SB8J_1 made important progress. To tackle biodiversity loss, we need all hands on deck, including the hands & voices of the custodians of biodiversity.
