A very belated happy 70th birthday to my very good friend, Joe Hylton, pictured here in March 1987, as we planned the protests against the proposed merger with Fulham. Congratulations, Joe... and I'll race to you eighty, and beyond...

Some of you will be aware that my absence on Saturday was down to being rushed by ambulance to hospital. Pumped full of drugs, I am now out of intensive care but likely to be kept in for some time.

My mum’s cancer is back. Rapidly. She’s never shown any upset, until today. Carol singers raising money for MacMillan in a pub sang Away in a Manger. She burst into tears and said ‘That was my favourite Carol when I was a little girl. And this will be my last Christmas.’

“If You Should Sail” by Nielsen/Pearson peaked at #38 on the Billboard Hot 100 on this day in 1980. The song spent 14 weeks on the chart and was the band’s only top 40 hit. Personnel includes Jai Winding and Chuck Findley. It is essential yacht rock. youtu.be/Aj_WtnPoiW8?si…
