The worst thing ever is seeing something funny on here, thinking I gotta send that to my mom and brother and realize they are gone. I miss them. I'm struggling with it but keeping it together. All I know how to do is bury everything, put my head down and keep going.

I gave our canvassers a debrief, then I went to chat with the second vehicle. They were definitely together. This van was completely blacked out, and it was obvious that they were talking to each other about me. He quoted his partner when I said he was an RCMP officer.... "That's not what he told you". He was not happy that I was recording him, but he was more talkative that the other guy. His story was that they were investigating a U-Haul. So why did the first guy record me instead of just telling me why they were there?

Another weird incident today. Another volunteer is using my pop-up along highway 1A. He texted me just as I was heading downtown to do my call-in show on the @WesternStandar1 "Something odd happening here. There are two mini vans sitting with eyes on me. One in xxxxx' old spot, and one in the field approach 100 yds east. Both have been here for more than half an hour. " I got that message at 12:10 pm, and dispatched another volunteer to join them. I told them I would swing by on my way back around 3:00 pm. I mentioned the two vans in my show. 1/

There are more than 50 people at the @edmontonpolice Commission meeting at @CityofEdmonton City Hall today. It’s standing room only. #yeg 1 speaker has already called for the Police Chief to step down following his trip to Israel, and comments since.

At 3:00 pm I went to the vehicle on the north side of the highway. Prior to filming, I asked him why he had been parked there for 3 hours. The first words out of his mouth were that he was an RCMP officer. He also told me he had been there for 2 days. He then started filming me, so I returned the favour and started filming him. He changed his story to being an investigator, when I challenged him about being an RCMP officer. 2/

@SarahRyanYEG @rambug73 @edmontonpolice @CityofEdmonton Ok but DID YOU interview him at some point about his trip to communist China. Did GLOBAL air a segment on his trip and why he would chose to go to China on taxpayers dime. The Chief did not take funds from taxpayers for his trip.

Good on you Chief Warren Driechel for standing your ground against woke bs
Edmonton Police@edmontonpolice

In mid-February, I joined police Chiefs from Canada and the United States, on a visit to Israel where we met police and community leaders in several cities. I spent time with police officers from Jewish, Christian, Muslim and Druze faiths representing a wide range of cultural and ethnic backgrounds. I also met with Muslim community leaders who shared openly about their concerns and their reasons for working with police. These officers and community leaders operate in an environment that demands extraordinary vigilance - managing crime, counter terrorism, supporting community and crisis response all amid extreme complexity. Police to police we were able to talk about the toll this work takes on the people who do it. We talked about building trust in communities where there is little trust. We were able to get a glimpse of the undertaking required to police in complex environments. I am grateful for what I was able to learn and share with those we visited and among my North American peers. These missions offer a great deal of insight and valuable perspective. I am grateful for the continued leadership and support of the Edmonton Police Commission who have supported me in this. As police we focus on behavior, not beliefs. Where I have felt challenged this week is in the implication that any community group should have the right to direct where we can learn. I stand by my decision to take the trip to Israel and continue to view it as valuable, among multiple learning experiences I will have in this role. I remain focused on my longstanding and ongoing commitment to dialogue, learning and connection across communities and across boundaries.

Four judges have now confirmed that Justin Trudeau invoked the Emergencies Act illegally. The Federal Court of Appeal has dismissed the government’s appeal of Justice Mosley’s decision, confirming once again that the use of these extraordinary powers was unconstitutional. The Court was clear: “Cabinet… did not have reasonable grounds to believe that a threat to national security existed.” In other words, the legal threshold was never met. Instead of taking responsibility, Trudeau and his government spent years appealing the decision, using public resources while hoping the issue would fade from public attention. That behaviour runs directly against the principles of democracy and good governance. In a healthy democracy, leaders are accountable when they misuse extraordinary powers. When a leader unlawfully invokes emergency powers against his own citizens and then refuses to take responsibility, that is not leadership. It is a failure of judgment and accountability. And someone who failed so profoundly at home, and then ran from that failure, should not be elevated and invited to lecture the world about democracy on the global stage. Why is it okay for Mayor Knack to visit. China on official business but not okay for the police chief to visit Israel? What is the difference here? We all know what’s going on here.
NCCM@nccm

We appreciate the stance that Mayor Andrew Knack has taken in relation to the visit of the EPS chief to learn from Israeli police. We know that many Edmonton City Councilors and those on the Police Commission share his frustration. We continue to call for accountability and for answers.
