Got to welcome some students from Libby, Montana, to the Nation’s Capital yesterday. It is always fun to watch young men and women learn about our country. Ronald Reagan said it best: Freedom is one generation away from extinction. This is the generation I’ve spent my life fighting for.

Today is National Medal of Honor Day, a day to honor those who have earned our nation’s highest military award for their extraordinary service and sacrifice. Montana has one of the highest service rates in the country and has produced multiple Medal of Honor recipients, including Private First Class Donald Jack Ruhl of Columbus, Montana. PFC Ruhl served in the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II, and gave his life heroically at Iwo Jima, diving on a grenade to protect his fellow Marines. Semper Fi, Marine. Thank you for your service to America.

Happy National Ag Day to the men and women who feed this country. Montana farmers and ranchers wake up early and don’t stop until the job is done, and my duty here in D.C. is to make sure they are supported along the way. I'm is fighting to keep our farmland out of foreign hands and deliver the water infrastructure they can rely on. Making sure American food is grown and processed here in America and that our producers can make a living doing it.

Democrats let thousands of unvetted people into our country with their open-border policies. Now they have shut down the agency that protects us from those domestic threats. This is a recipe for disaster, completely created out of the politics of the radical left.

Today is World Bear Day. Montana is one of the few places in the USA that is home to both grizzlies and black bears. Incredible progress has been made on grizzly recovery. Let’s celebrate the win. Delist the grizzly and return management to the states.

Congress is meant to represent the people. The PEOPLE want the SAVE America Act. The House passed it. Now the Senate must act.

Violet made the journey all the way to D.C. to deliver me a letter from her preschool class in Bozeman. In it, her class shared some of their favorite things about Montana: Yellowstone National Park, skiing, the animals they get to see, the mountains, the rivers and hot springs, the big seasons, and the people. Guess what Violet? Those are some of my favorite things about Montana too.

The Protecting Access for Hunters and Anglers Act, which I was an original cosponsor of, passed the House today. This is a huge win for hunters and anglers everywhere. Our public lands are for everyone, and you shouldn’t have to purchase expensive pseudo-environmental products to access them. H.R. 556 ensures that access by preventing any future administration from banning the use of lead ammunition or tackle on federal lands or waters.

One of the most impactful days in D.C. is Native American Witness Day in the Interior Appropriations Subcommittee. It’s an opportunity for tribes in Montana and across the nation to come to Washington and advocate for their priorities before Congress. They know they have my support, from the Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women Program to tackling the opioid crisis on their lands, and I’ll keep fighting to make sure their voices are heard.

A great start to a busy day on Capitol Hill with Montana coffee and taking a few students from Twin Bridges, Montana on a tour around the Capitol. These young men were fascinated by our nation’s history and the ins and outs of Congress. Montana has a bright future!

.@RepRyanZinke: A bureaucratic maze has led to a $250 billion backlog in foreign military sales. President Trump is in charge of executing the American foreign policy, and it’s time for Congress to streamline the process so that he can fully exercise his Article II authority.

Make sure to thank the TSA agents working this week without pay. They’re on the job keeping airports safe and lines moving, while Democrats drag out this useless DHS shutdown, playing politics at the expense of everyday Americans. I’ve voted to fund the Department of Homeland Security twice and the House has passed funding both times. The Senate Dems need to do their job so TSA, CBP, Coast Guard and others can get paid to do theirs.

It’s National Ag Week, a time to recognize the folks who keep this country fed, fueled, and clothed.
