Really talented CDM Josh O'Dwyer (2010) that's on his way RB Salzburg. Should be a name to watch for 🇵🇱 in the next several months. His mother is from Poland. I think poland still has a good chance to get him.

𝐓𝐡𝐢𝐬 𝐨𝐧𝐞 𝐢𝐬 𝐡𝐚𝐫𝐝 𝐭𝐨 𝐠𝐞𝐭 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐡𝐞𝐚𝐝 𝐚𝐫𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐝… 🤯 When Seamus Coleman made his Everton first-team debut against Benfica on 22 October 2009, Josh O’Dwyer hadn’t even been born. O’Dwyer, who has just earned his first senior Ireland call-up for the trip to Canada, wasn’t born until 17 March 2010. 16 years on, the two are now part of the same Ireland squad.

Ireland’s travelling squad for the upcoming friendly against Canada has been confirmed. League of Ireland stars Matt Healy and Kian Leavy have both been called up and will join Dawson Devoy in the squad, while Mark Travers and Conor Coventry also link up with the group ahead of the trip to Montreal. As expected, Caoimhín Kelleher, Jason Molumby, Dara O’Shea and Jack Moylan will return to their clubs following the Qatar fixture, allowing a number of fresh faces the opportunity to impress during the Canada camp. Meanwhile, highly-rated Shamrock Rovers youngster Josh O’Dwyer will travel as a training player, gaining valuable experience around the senior international setup and getting a first taste of life in the senior international environment.

Really struggling to think of single reason why Jacob Devaney shouldn’t be travelling to Canada…

𝐊𝐢𝐚𝐧 𝐋𝐞𝐚𝐯𝐲 𝐫𝐞𝐜𝐞𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐬 𝐟𝐢𝐫𝐬𝐭 𝐬𝐞𝐧𝐢𝐨𝐫 𝐈𝐫𝐞𝐥𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐜𝐚𝐥𝐥-𝐮𝐩! 🇮🇪 Another League of Ireland star has been rewarded for an excellent season, with Kian Leavy called up to the Ireland squad for the upcoming trip to Canada. The St Patrick’s Athletic winger has been one of the standout performers in the division this season and appears to have gone to another level in recent months. Long regarded as one of the league’s most exciting attacking talents, Leavy has added greater end product to his game, contributing four goals and three assists as St Pat’s continue their push near the top of the table. His ability to beat defenders and create something out of nothing has made him a nightmare for opposition defences, with manager Stephen Kenny even joking that he can look like “Maradona” when running at defenders. Now Leavy gets the chance to test himself at senior international level and will be hoping to make a real impression during the camp in Canada.

𝐉𝐨𝐬𝐡 𝐎’𝐃𝐰𝐲𝐞𝐫 𝐢𝐬 𝐡𝐞𝐚𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐨 𝐂𝐚𝐧𝐚𝐝𝐚 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐬𝐞𝐧𝐢𝐨𝐫 𝐈𝐫𝐞𝐥𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐬𝐪𝐮𝐚𝐝! 🇮🇪 At just 16 years of age, the RB Salzburg-bound midfielder has been called up for Ireland’s trip to Montreal and could make history if he features against Canada. A senior debut would see O’Dwyer become the youngest player ever to play for the Republic of Ireland, breaking Jimmy Holmes’ long-standing record of 17 years and 199 days, which has stood since 1971. Having watched O’Dwyer throughout the underage ranks, he’s genuinely one of the most impressive young midfielders I’ve seen in an Ireland shirt. A key figure in Ireland’s qualification for the FIFA U17 World Cup (playing an age up), a mixture of outstanding technical ability with incredible athleticism. Standing over six feet tall already, he glides past players effortlessly, covers every blade of grass and possesses a magical left foot. This call-up shows exactly how highly he’s regarded within the FAI setup. A huge talent, and one that looks destined for a very bright future in green.

Glenn Whelan has been appointed as the new Head Coach of Livingston!🇮🇪 The former Ireland international takes on his first permanent managerial role after impressing in coaching positions with Bristol Rovers, the Ireland senior setup under John O’Shea, and most recently as Assistant Manager at Wigan Athletic, which included a short spell as interim head coach. Whelan enjoyed a stellar playing career with the likes of Stoke City, Aston Villa and Sheffield Wednesday, representing Ireland over 90 times and now makes his first move in management, heading to the Scottish Championship.

The midfielder has been outstanding for Shamrock Rovers over the past two seasons. His performances, consistency and quality in midfield have made him impossible to ignore. Healy now has the opportunity to make his senior debut in green and joins Dawson Devoy as League of Ireland midfielders in the squad. Expected more exciting additions to named as joining the squad tomorrow👀

Great to see Max Kovalevskis make such a big impact off the bench tonight - huge amount of talent and has the ability to be a serious wing back, just needs some luck on the injury front.

𝐈𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐞 𝐚𝐧𝐲𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐥𝐞𝐟𝐭 𝐭𝐨 𝐬𝐚𝐲 𝐚𝐛𝐨𝐮𝐭 𝐒𝐞𝐚𝐦𝐮𝐬 𝐂𝐨𝐥𝐞𝐦𝐚𝐧? 🐐 At 37, most full-backs are winding down, sitting deeper and managing games. Coleman is still doing the opposite. For 45 minutes (arguably 90) against Qatar, he looked like the best player on the pitch. Driving forward, overlapping, getting into dangerous positions and still showing the defensive awareness that has defined his career. The most impressive thing about Coleman has never just been his ability though 1 it’s his leadership. Even late in the game, he was demanding teammates get the ball to Jaden Umeh in 1v1 situations, showing complete trust in a young player making his debut at senior level. With Everton now behind him, there will be plenty of talk about what comes next. But one thing is clear: Seamus Coleman is not finished yet. 80 caps. One of Ireland’s greatest ever players. And don’t be surprised if that century of international appearances is still to come with playing until Euro 2028 in his thinking. A leader, a role model and still a top-class footballer.
