In 1900, factories took 30 years to get a 3% efficiency gain from electricity. Why? They mounted electric motors exactly where the steam engines used to be. New power source. Old architecture. Most people are writing AI prompts like instruction manuals. Step 1. Step 2. Step 3. Format it like this. Use this tone. Keep it under 200 words. That's not a brief. That's a cage. AI doesn't need your process. It needs your outcome. "Double my email open rate" beats "write a subject line, then a body, then a CTA" every time. Delete every line in your next prompt that describes HOW. Replace it with one line that describes WHAT needs to be true when it's done. The quality jump will surprise you.

In 2007, I wrote the Internet Business Manifesto. It was downloaded 5 million times and shifted the entire industry from chasing traffic to fixing the business engine. That thesis still holds. Most 7-figure businesses don't have a traffic problem. They have a conversion architecture problem. More traffic into a broken engine doesn't fix the engine. It burns it down faster. Before you run another ad — map your conversion path end to end. Find where you're losing people. That's the only work that matters right now. Fix the model. Then run the ads.

I wanted to learn Theory of Constraints. But I knew I wouldn’t really learn it… unless I had to sell it. So I wrote a report that started with this: “What if your success isn’t based on what you know, who you know, your offer, niche, passion...any of it?” Because all of that? Just potential. Your success is your potential minus your constraint. And most people just keep adding more potential and wondering why they’re still stuck.
