
Hi @theguardrailguy, wonder what you think of rumble strips. I think they are deadly to cyclists when installed on roads without shoulders, which is something I see all the time in Tennessee lately. Cyclists hit them, lose control, and either get hit by motor vehicles or crash in ditches. I used to be an avid cyclist, but I gave it up after hitting a rumble strip and crashing. I regained consciousness some time later, bloodied, head-down in a ditch. It happened in broad daylight on Highway 100 in a busy prosperous neighborhood but nobody called 911 or stopped to help. I think rumble strips should not be installed where cyclists use the road and there are less than 3ft of shoulder. But I see them all the time on two-lane rural highways with six inches or less of shoulder. It's not safe.
