Back from hiatus! I've been playing around with much bigger viewing windows. It really changes the feel of the game! It shifts the feel to more exploration / teleportation focused and less action / fighting. Just goes to show the importance of camera angles! #gamedev #indiegame

This room is the ultimate skill check in this chapter for people who don't explore. It's possible to beat with just the defualt kit you have, but it's really hard. However, if you checked elsewhere for abilities and upgrades, it can be mildly hard to very easy. #metroidvania

@kitoahin3D I think so! Like you said, keeping the frame-data / length the same is crucial. To me, variance adds that nice flair and breaks up repetitiveness in animations. Here’s a little clip of some variance that I added; similar but different enough.

Updated existing attack animations and added a third one! Variance is nice when unleashing a bunch of attacks. Slowed down by 25% for your viewing pleasure. #gamedev #pixelart

Do you think adding variants to animations (run, attack, ledge up/down) could add extra flair to gameplay or do you think it would confuse the player if inputs do not give them consistent visual responses? (It’s implied that the frame range is still the same) #gamedev #animation

CheeseHead games (making retro life)
Due to financial reasons I'm back to working full-time (+ overtime) in a factory. And it's a lot harder to bring myself to work on my game every day when I'm already exhausted from doing physical labor for 10+ hours a day. But I'm trying. I'm really trying guys. I am determined to both finish my game AND provide for my family. No matter how hard it is.

@ArtroDev I actually think it looks fine visually! Maybe a little sparkle or shine when buying a card would be nice. Sound-wise though, I’d definitely add some kind of impact sound for when the ship is hit, especially with bigger attacks.
