Built AI that texts back missed calls and books jobs for service businesses. HVAC | Roofing | Law | Real Estate. Every missed call is someone else booking it.

HVAC company. 3 techs. $7K/month on Google Ads. 40% of their emergency calls come in after 6pm. All of them were going to voicemail. Built them an AI that texts back in 90 seconds, asks 3 qualifying questions, sends the owner a lead summary. First month: 19 jobs booked from what used to be missed calls. DM me if this is your company.

@DylanOlivaRanks $4K/mo from the auto-text alone is the number most service businesses cannot believe until they see it. the volume of missed after-hours calls is almost always higher than the owner thinks. they stop tracking after the first voicemail.

The fix is stupid simple. Get a $50/mo answering service. Set up auto-text for missed calls. Return every call within 5 minutes. That plumber added $4K/mo doing just the auto-text part.

78% of homeowners hire the first contractor who picks up the phone. Not the cheapest. Not the best reviews. The fastest.

@jarydesign most of them called and got voicemail. the form fill is the second attempt. if the form fill also goes unanswered for 4 hours, they are gone. the website is not the problem.

Quick question for plumbers, When someone lands on your website from Google and doesn't call, what do you think makes them leave? I looked at 6 plumbing websites in the same market last month. Every single one had something different killing their conversions. One had the phone number only in the footer. One had a contact form asking for 9 fields before you could submit. One had zero photos of actual jobs, just stock images of pipes and wrenches. The one converting well had 3 things: 1. phone number above the fold 2. one real photo of a completed job 3. and a single button that said "Get a Free Quote Today." That's it. What's the one thing you changed on your site that actually moved the needle?

@jarydesign the companies at $1.4M are not necessarily better at the job. they just have no dead air in the response loop. someone always picks up or texts back. that consistency compounds over months.

The HVAC companies that grow the fastest have one thing in common. They don't have better technicians. They don't have lower prices. They just answer the phone. I manage enough accounts to tell you: the gap between a $600k/year HVAC company and a $1.4m/year HVAC company is usually right there. One of them has a real system for answering calls and responding to leads within 5 minutes. The other one calls back when they get a chance. Same city. Same competition. Same trucks. Just one of them figured out that the first callback wins the job.

@imran_services running a roofing company means you are the product, the sales, and the operations all at once. the hardest part is responding fast when you are already on a job. what does your current setup look like for after-hours calls?

law firm spending $12K/month on Google Ads. potential client fills out the contact form at 8:30pm Thursday. paralegal sees it Monday at 9am. by then the client has hired someone else, left a bad review about slow response, and is already three consultations deep with a competitor. the ads worked. the follow-up didn't.

@STL_Plumber the filtration system sell is a great upsell but it requires a conversation. most plumbing companies lose the conversation before it starts because they miss the initial call. what does your after-hours look like?

@SupremeRoofing_ nearly 4 decades of roofing means you have answered calls other companies let go to voicemail a thousand times over. that is not branding. that is operational discipline. congrats on the run.

@boomerexit one thing changed though: the customer. in 1978 they called, waited, called back. in 2026 they call, get voicemail, and book the next google result in 90 seconds. the call takers are the same. the window to respond is not.

I started my business in 1978. I had paneling on the walls. My call takers had perms. I had cathode ray tubes in the office and green prompts like in that Keanu Reeves movie. Today nothing has changed. Progression!

@heatpumpnetwork the HVAC market is one of the best cases for this. emergency calls, after-hours demand, seasonal spikes — every one of those moments is a missed call that converts immediately for whoever answers first. what does your network look like, mostly residential or commercial?

most people building AI agents are solving problems for people who already have 10 other solutions. i'm solving it for the HVAC tech who doesn't know what an API is but loses $180K/year in missed after-hours calls.

the multi-location service business has a different version of the response problem. one location might answer every call. another goes to voicemail. the customer doesn't know the difference but the revenue does. standardizing ops across locations is where AI actually earns its keep.

@TheSharkDaymond @jobber blue collar businesses are the best candidates for AI right now. not because of hype. because the problem is narrow: too much demand, not enough bandwidth to respond to all of it. that gap between a ringing phone and a booked job is where most of the money is leaking.

the 35% who haven't started have usually tried one thing that didn't work and stopped. the disconnect is scope. contractors get pitched AI that does everything. what actually lands is AI that does one job: answer when they can't. that's it. that narrow version has a 100% adoption rate.

real estate agent loses most deals not to a better agent but to a faster one. lead requests a showing Saturday 7pm. agent sees it Sunday morning. lead already toured with someone else and made an offer. the gap is 14 hours. that is where the commission went.

roofing company in a hurricane state. 8pm Friday. storm just passed. 27 missed calls in 4 hours. every one of them a homeowner with water coming through their ceiling. by Monday morning, 19 of them already have someone on the roof. after-hours is not optional in this business. it is the business.

@cookwithmrz @noahiglerSEO GHL + Make is the right stack for this. the thing that breaks is the handoff after the first AI response - when the lead says something unexpected the automation usually drops it. how are you handling that edge case for your clients?

Setting up our first AI agent for a home service business. It will respond to all their email and text leads instantly with a follow up question. This client gets 50+ website leads a month in high season and their team was taking 2-3 days to get back to people. Now it's under 10 seconds... The agent can even quote roughly 30% of their jobs based on the info the lead gives it. Yes, there are softwares that do this but the good ones are $600+ a month. This is the future of SMBs.

@homecleaningguy @noahiglerSEO you actually ran a service business so you know what this feels like from the inside. most people building in this space are guessing. DM me - think there is an interesting angle between what you do (cold email) and what I do (lead response after the call comes in).

@sellsroofs I do exactly this. missed call text-back, lead response, booking automation for roofing and trades. built and running in production. the fact you are already on roofs and understand the workflow is a real edge. most builders trying to serve this space have never seen a job site.
