@g_boad Not in a 30 limit, I’d think - there is no minimum limit on a motorway and nobody will prosecute you for not moving faster than the posted limit.

@roads_uk My mind initially went to minimum speed limits. There’s no legal minimum but 40-50mph is recommended. So if you do 35mph you could be prosecuted for going too fast and too slow at the same time.

@tokenwelshman Yes, seemingly so. 40 was not unusual in the 60s but 50 was quite novel, so maybe not an obvious choice in 1967.

@tokenwelshman I think it was 40, based on archive pictures I found, but I didn’t find anything to back that up. There are certainly photos from around the time it opened showing 40 signs on the sliproads.

@ukroadtransport It’s bizarre! As ever a discussion on @sabreroads tipped me off about the issue, but since then the draft orders were made and the problem became even worse.

@o_goody Reach for the stars, Glasgow! If you don’t try you’ll never find out if you can 😆 Scotland, of course, has its own speed limit legislation, and different rules around repeaters on classified roads, so whether such a thing is any simpler there would need some investigation.

@roads_uk Glasgow City Council will be watching closely, they want to do the same with the M8 through the city centre, even though it's a Transport Scotland road!

@mishagrigorovic Have a look in the address bar - if you see “/index.php” in there somewhere then delete it and try again. There’s a bug with page URLs that comes up occasionally and the software developers can’t seem to fix it 😬
