@ryan_weal @patriot_faith @Write4Republic My sweet, this us about religious traditions, not about nutrition. You're the equivalent of gym bro yoga, separating fasting from Orthodox teaching.

Wow, y'all definitely turned me away from the Catholic Church real quick 😂 The orthodox bros were just as bad. I'm just looking to be in a denomination that isn't insane, but I don't know if that's really a thing. Many protestant churches are just as nuts. I suppose when the whole culture turns to garbage, the churches aren't spared either. Welp, I'm still a Christian, but I find little in common with most others anymore.

@nanbyz @patriot_faith @Write4Republic My grandmother was Romanian-Orthodox but I never knew about the church. All I did was express my excitement about learning about the Orthodox tradition after trying a fast. You are presenting yourself as a Pharisee.

@ryan_weal @patriot_faith @Write4Republic It's not that fasting is bad, It's taking a traditional from someone else's church and having the absolute audacity to thonk you know all about it, without belonging to an Apostolic church that's weird. You don't follow Orthodox church teaching and aren't an Orthodox Catechumen

@nanbyz @patriot_faith @Write4Republic Maybe you shouldn't call yourself Orthodox? Would the term Pharisee be more apt? I didn't say it was "my tradition". Trying to convince someone that fasting is bad is weird as hell.

@ryan_weal @patriot_faith @Write4Republic It's not your tradition. Thid is not a fadt thst protestants have a history with, so you're just LARPing as Orthodox without being Orthodox. That's weird as he'll.

@nanbyz @patriot_faith @Write4Republic I actually specifically said I reviewed my nutrition before doing this. I also stated I feel great and that it was a very rewarding experience. Why are you trying to convince me not to do it, after I have already done it?

@ryan_weal @patriot_faith @Write4Republic My sweet, it isn't about approval, it's about learning the fast and getting recommendations for someone new as your body isn't ready for this. You also have to keep in mind any medical issues. You have a lot to learn.

@nanbyz @patriot_faith @Write4Republic I look forward to having a deep conversation with the local Orthodox priest now that I have been through the experience. I just haven't been able to line up a good time to do it yet (it is a far drive for me).

@ryan_weal @patriot_faith @Write4Republic Meatfare is the beginning of the fast. This is why to consult a priest; new people need guidance in fasting because your body isnt accustomed to this fast.

@nanbyz @patriot_faith @Write4Republic Looking at my schedule I did actually do the fast on Wednesday and Friday prior to Cheesefare Monday, as a test. So I guess you could say I did start with Meatfare. I was eating my eggs that week except on those fasting days.

@nanbyz @patriot_faith @Write4Republic That's just when it happened. I have chickens and they are for eggs, so meat hasn't been important to me for over a year. The first days without eggs were unusual but not a big deal.

I don't see it that way. I am saying that I do not consider the days to be arbitrary, only that they are new to me, and that I respect the calendar as it is laid out. I am also saying that I did not seek approval of any human being before doing this because it was between myself and God and I did not want to be swayed by opinions and ritual that could lead me off-course. I did a technical assessment beforehand to ensure I would have my nutrition and ensured it lined up with the schedule. Now that I have proven to myself that the schedule works and that it is indeed real and beneficial I am talking about it with others to learn more about the history. Everyone has their own path. I don't need any person telling me I am this type of person or that type of person. I am a Christian that believes in Jesus Christ.

@ryan_weal @patriot_faith @Write4Republic We fast on Wednesday to remember His betrayal and on Friday to remember the Crucifixion, there's nothing arbitrary about it. So you're not Orthodox and laud yourself for fasting according to a calendar you're not bound to. Got it.

I used the schedule on the GoArch website, and I followed every fasting day to the fullest extent, starting the week earlier on "Cheesefare Monday" (had to clean the dairy out of the fridge). I did not seek permission or approval from anyone. I just did it. I did not talk about it with others until day 41 of the full fast. I did not want people telling me their opinions. I plan to continue the Wednesday/Friday schedule.

@nanbyz @patriot_faith @Write4Republic What's so funny about that? Do you not care about your body? Your body is the temple according to the scripture, so you might want to consider giving it a clean-up now and then!

@nyb2know @Write4Republic Probably going to skip that one but I know many mormons and they are great people for sure. I think the nearest mormon church is at least 2 or 3 hours drive away from where I live.

@patriot_faith @Write4Republic I really enjoy any diet or fasting-related passages. I haven't dug into the "40-day" aspects much, but it all lined up for Lent this year so it is going to be a focus for my future studies!

Yep, I went with them because they were supposedly independent but I guess not in the same way as Robert Breaker, who I generally appreciate. The sermons at our church were "technically" accurate, but in a way that would twist the meaning of things. As an example: a sermon claimed the book of Daniel "proves" we can eat anything... because later in the bible people eat meat. It missed the point that Daniel did better because he did not eat what the King put in front of him, but rather made decisions about what he put in his own body and didn't implicitly trust that the King's food was good.

@ryan_weal @Write4Republic Just remember, there’s about 14 different kinds of Baptists. I’m guessing the church I Pastor would be way different than the one that you attended because our sermons are all from the Bible.

I did it because the schedule has very specific days limiting oils, and this reminded me of many cancer protocols I have seen. I was also learning about autism/adhd and milk allergies preventing folate from crossing the brain barrier (needs 3 weeks of no dairy at all to clear). My diet was already "there" in the sense I could remove dairy, and only eat real foods with no "products" so I decided to go for it. After 3 weeks inflammation was completely gone. Sleeping longer at night, nose clear. No hawking loogies. My brain felt great. Unexpectedly around week 4-5 I just stopped smoking and it wasn't a big deal at all. Will do it again 100%.

@patriot_faith @Write4Republic This is one of my concerns too. I did the Orthodox fasting schedule for Lent and I loved it, so it has that going for it at least.

@ryan_weal @Write4Republic I looked into Orthodox too. They stepped in that Roman pile too. There is a lot to like, but for me they’re too Roman.

Anyone else ever consider unblocking everyone and just start muting so those idiots that you didn't want to see or hear can argue with others in your posts and work for you instead?

@Based_Jedi I went to a place like this in the south of France one time. Different color plate was used to distinguish the price. It was fun.

Is it true that in Japan they have sushi on conveyer belts in restaurants?! How fast does the sushi go by? Do you need a harpoon? 😆 This is so cool..

@TiffaniMarie483 @Write4Republic A Hospital for Sinners! Yes I agree with this. The Baptist church I attended did a sermon once claiming "you can trust everyone in this room" and I was like NOPE NOT A CHANCE and my Catholic grandma agreed with me on this point.

@Write4Republic Look, people are insane. And hypocritical. And many other bad things. The Catholic Church is a hospital for sinners, not a social club for saints.
