Primary sources of electricity generation include burning natural gas and coal.
Diesel generators are def much dirtier than natural gas generators, but the net net is you’re still burning hydrocarbons lol

What's the difference? When you charge at your local charging stations, those electricity are provided by mostly by diesel, natural gas, coal, nuclear, only a small % are hydro, solar, wind in US.
If you've off grid solar/hydro at home, then charging your EVs and powering your home is green.
