@s_blazze @WatcherGuru Maybe he wants Iran to destroy it’s own facilities. Or maybe he wants China to realize they will lose the oil permanently if they don’t force the mullahs to stand down. This war is all about China.

@TKL_Adam Really? I guess the US will sell all its goods and services to itself when European and Asian economies collapse into recession or worse due to energy-induced inflation. But, go on, tell me about the US energy sector's record profits from bankrupt customers.

The US is ironically relatively "shielded" from rising oil prices abroad. Crude oil prices in Oman are trading at a +$70 premium to WTI crude, hitting record highs. Meanwhile, the US gets less than 8% of its oil from the Persian Gulf, at just 500,000 barrels per day. As a result, the US is actually seeing relatively *low* oil prices at home while foreign buyers are paying $150+/barrel in some cases. According to @KobeissiLetter, US oil companies are now set to make an additional $60+ billion this year if oil prices sustain current levels. US oil giants will realize record profits.
The Kobeissi Letter@KobeissiLetter

Global oil markets are out of control: As the Iran War closes week 3, US oil prices are trading at $97/barrel, up +76% since December. Meanwhile, physical oil prices in Oman are up to a RECORD $167/barrel, a +72% PREMIUM. What is happening? Let us explain. (a thread)

@araghchi Keep stinging your enemy and your neighbors who let him use their air, sea, and land. The Americans call it "denying aid and comfort" to their enemies. You don't even need to explain anything. We know.

Our response to Israel's attack on our infrastructure employed FRACTION of our power. The ONLY reason for restraint was respect for requested de-escalation. ZERO restraint if our infrastructures are struck again. Any end to this war must address damage to our civilian sites.

It is time to open a path towards de-escalation in order to restore stability in the Middle East. France calls for the immediate implementation of a moratorium on strikes targeting civilian infrastructure, whether related to water or to energy. Freedom and security of navigation must be restored. As the region enters a period of religious celebrations and renewal, tempers must cool and hostilities must cease, in order to give a real chance to the prospect of a negotiated and sustainable solution.

This is absolutely insane: The world is quite literally facing what appears to be the largest energy crisis in history. US crude oil futures are now trading at a $20+/barrel DISCOUNT to Brent, also one of the largest on record. As the US increases production and taps into reserves, the EU is facing a full out energy crisis. European natural gas prices are up another +30% today and physical crude oil prices in Oman and elsewhere are trading at $150+/barrel. In other words, the gap between Oman and US prices now stands at ~70%, or ~$70+ per barrel. It has become so bad for Europe that the market is now pricing-in 2 interest rate HIKES in 2026, even as the US removes sanctions on Russian oil. US rate cuts in 2026 are almost entirely priced-out as a result with Core PPI inflation on PRE-WAR data rising to its highest since February 2023. The entire global economy just took a complete 180 degree turn in 3 weeks. The next few months are going to be historic.

There are no rules. Once you accept this, life gets easier. This is precisely why Russia is stuck in Ukraine. Putin is a lawyer who plays by rules his rivals have discarded since 1989, at best. Take a look at Kyiv, then take a look at Tehran, Gaza, or southern Lebanon. There are no rules. He who knows this, rules.

There is a high threat of another combined missile and drone attack on Ukraine for the next 3 days, especially for Kyiv City and Kyiv Oblast. If this attack does take place, the following could be used: - Iskander-M ballistic missiles - Iskander-K cruise missiles - Zircon hypersonic cruise missiles - Kinzhal hypersonic aeroballistic missiles - The new "Izdeliye-30" cruise missile As we are entering the spring months, its likely that there will be other targets hit beyond the usual energy infrastructure, especially that of the military-industrial complex. An attack like this would not include strategic aviation, and would take place any time between 12am and 4am Kyiv Time. After this attack (if it does indeed take place), we can expect another combined attack 1-2 weeks from now involving Tu-95MS, Tu-160M, and possibly Tu-22m3 strategic bombers, which are being redeployed and are undergoing equipment of Kh-101 cruise missiles.

BREAKING: Russia has been providing improved drone technology to Iran in order to aid in their targeting of US forces in the region, per WSJ. Details include: 1. In addition to drone technology, Russia has also been expanding its intel sharing with Iran 2. Russia is engaging in "military cooperation" with Iran 3. Russia is trying to keep its closest Middle Eastern partner "in the fight" 4. Russia is providing satellite imagery to Iranian forces Russia's influence in the Iran war is reportedly growing.

There was nothing wrong with the election. He ran to the left of the Democrats on several issues, including not starting new wars. People voted the platform. He has since betrayed his own core (30-40 year old) positions. Can't blame people for voting in someone they'd already seen do what they like. All blame goes to the duplicitous leader who has now left his base perplexed.

It is not Israel and Saudi Arabia, per se. Those are merely the local chihuahua that the main player uses to achieve its goals. See, it is a basic rule of geopolitics. The global hegemon cannot tolerate the advent of regional hegemons. Only trouble is, those occur naturally by virtue of geography, demographics, natural resources, and quality of human resources. Russia in Europe, Iran in the Middle East, India in Southwest Asia, China in Southeast Asia, and eventually Brazil in South America and Nigeria in Subsaharan Africa. Can you spot the chihuahua for each (some internal)? The United States, North America's natural regional hegemon, with two defensive oceans and extremely weak neighbors, will not relinquish the bounty it won by not existing in Europe or Asia during WW2 without a fight. To quote another natural hegemon (albeit, fictional), the United States is "prey to none, friend to none, predator to all." Henry Kissinger, former United States Secretary of State (the most famous of them all), made similar statements of his nations behavior. Unfortunately for her, she is a maritime power, like her mother Great Britain, in an age where the sleeping land powers of Europe, Asia, and the Middle East have received an overdose of ammonia inhalants. Like Great Britain was forced to retreat to her Island, the United States' retreat to her continental island is inevitable. If it took two world wars to knock Great Britain off her pedestal, you can imagine what mayhem lays ahead.

@Chad_Hominem_ On October 7, 2023, that statement was correct. Sure, Israel over did it in Gaza, but a well-deserved hell was always coming to Gaza after the shit they pulled that day. What's happening today is not the same as what happened back then.

U.S. STRIKE ON KHARG ISLAND — WARNING TO IRAN Moments ago, on my orders, U.S. Central Command carried out one of the most powerful airstrikes in Middle East history, destroying every military target on Iran’s Kharg Island. Our weapons are unmatched, but I chose not to strike the island’s oil infrastructure out of restraint. If Iran—or anyone—threatens free passage through the Strait of Hormuz, that decision will change immediately. I rebuilt the U.S. military into the most powerful force on Earth. Iran cannot defend against anything we choose to strike. Iran will never obtain a nuclear weapon or threaten the United States, the Middle East, or the world. Its military and those supporting this regime would be wise to stand down and preserve what remains of their country. — President Donald J. Trump
