This is exactly right. This is what Pirates fans went through for years.
People focus on the hard hit% (high groundball rate) but that has always been the case with Hayes. Yet, he continues to perform under league avg.

Ke'Bryan Hayes is running a 34% Hard Hit Rate with only a 104.6 MaxEV and pulling the ball an insanely miniscule 20% of the time. Spray angle is not included in xwOBA calculations and the wrong Savant lollipops aren't predictive. I'm really not sure how "unlucky" he truly is.
