This might sound crazy, but there are guys that spent all year telling you the four year cycle for Bitcoin was dumb, and when they were proven wrong, they did not admit it, they just kept saying that the market is wrong, and they are right

Extreme volatility today in the markets due to the crisis in Iran. Firstly; - Oil went up. - Nasdaq & #Bitcoin down. Now; - Oil correcting again. - Nasdaq up for the day. - #Bitcoin bouncing back upwards. Insane volatility.

BTC Breakeven ARR tends to break brains, and I think it is important to understand why. There are three broad Bitcoin views: 1. Bullish Bitcoin (Amplified Bitcoin) These investors believe Bitcoin will appreciate significantly. If they can borrow long duration capital at <20% and believe Bitcoin's future CAGR will be above that, they are willing to raise capital to buy more Bitcoin. 2. Neutral Bitcoin (Digital Credit) These investors have a much lower required Bitcoin hurdle rate. Per @saylor's post, if Bitcoin grows at just 3.3% per year, they can fund current dividends forever from Bitcoin capital gains. That is a very different bet than “Bitcoin will compound at 20%+.” For context, historical USD M2 supply growth has been ~7% annually. BTC is a perfectly scarce monetary asset with 0% long-term supply growth. So the digital credit buyer does not need to be a massive Bitcoin bull. They mostly need to believe Bitcoin doesn't die and stays somewhat inline with USD inflation. That is a much broader audience. In fact, this may be the global consensus view on Bitcoin at this point. 3. Bitcoin bears If you believe Bitcoin is going down forever, there are also ways to express that view. You can short Bitcoin or short Amplified Bitcoin. That is what makes this situation so interesting. Capital now has three clear expressions: Bullish Bitcoin: own Bitcoin and Amplified Bitcoin. Neutral Bitcoin: own Digital Credit. Bearish Bitcoin: short Bitcoin or Amplified Bitcoin. Every major capital allocator now has a Bitcoin-linked instrument that maps to their worldview. That is how $1,000T+ of global capital starts to move into Bitcoin.
Michael Saylor@saylor

One of the most misunderstood $MSTR metrics is BTC Breakeven ARR. If BTC appreciates faster than 3.3% over time, BTC capital gains can fund $STRC dividends indefinitely.

Saylor has spoken. Honestly I'm surprised he has come out and has explicitly chose a side in the BIP-110 debate. This is no doubt one of the most contentious posts he has ever made. Don't shoot the messenger, I'm just grabbing the popcorn. It's going to get tasty.
Michael Saylor@saylor

After a decade of blockspace fears and non-monetary-use panics, Bitcoin still has no spam problem. Fees are 1 sat/vB: anyone can move any amount globally with immediate processing for ~$0.30. The free market has always solved Bitcoin’s blockspace challenges. $BTC

Ryan fully understands the argument I have been making for a long time. The entire $MSTR business model is now oriented around credit instruments. That changes the psychology of the investor base. Equity investors are willing to tolerate volatility because they are chasing long-term upside. Credit investors are different. The primary concern for credit investors is the confidence that dividends will continue to be paid, regardless of what markets are doing. Given the volatile nature of Bitcoin, that confidence cannot depend on the day-to-day price of $BTC or $MSTR. Instead, it must be derived from a larger USD Reserve. IMO, one that is large enough to fund dividends through a full typical market cycle.

By the way, here’s the other thing about the cash reserve: Bitcoin is a 50 vol asset. The -50% drawdown from October to now-ish is literally par for the course. This is why I’m not a fan of the “BTC Years of Dividend Coverage” metric. The number has too much vol. (it’s BTC price vol) A -90% drawdown is always on the table. We can debate the probability of such an event (in which I’m more bearish than the up-only Bitcoin narrative), but a -90% drawdown is always on the table. Which takes the ~32 years of BTC Div coverage down to 3.2 years, and it could happen quickly. We humans tend to blissfully overlook the nonlinearity of downside moves. (Or they say wild things like “capital rotations are the new recessions”) @hillery_dan cc: @piovincenzo_ A cash reserve is the *only* way to arrive as close to certainty as possible - which does benefit all market participants and regulators and index deciders. PS: we can get some yield on the USD Reserve with treasuries from 0-1 months up to 2-3 years. It won’t bring in much, but, it’s honest work and it’s a starting point for future cash flow generation 10+ years out from now.

Here is the problem with Saylor’s framing: capital markets reward companies that are great capital allocators. Saylor, unfortunately, has proven to be pretty bad at allocating capital. After almost six years of sucking up as much Bitcoin as possible, his company $MSTR sits on an astonishing $12 billion loss. Every Tom and Jerry would have done much better with a simple Bitcoin DCA. No corporate layer. No management BS. What’s the result of this? Retail investors in all these pseudo-Bitcoin derivatives lost money and are very unlikely to return anytime soon. The whole Bitcoin community got distracted by Saylor’s hyperbolic statements, and the original wonderful idea behind Bitcoin got lost along the way. I’m still bullish on Bitcoin. But I don’t like the financialization of it.
Michael Saylor@saylor

$BTC is Digital Capital. $STRC is Digital Credit. $MSTR is Digital Equity. Different instruments for different investors. One Bitcoin Strategy.

I am up 52.90% on my $ASST investment since February. It's been a difficult 9 months for everything Bitcoin related due to the bear market. Despite this, the company is in a great position. Bitcoin could go to zero and Strive will be completely fine for 18 months. That is the benefit of having no debt on the balance sheet. You can do everything right but sometimes the secret ingredient is just time. Still feeling very confident about this one.
