It started with the silly idea of generating images and turning them into music. We didn’t know if it would work, and we didn’t care if anyone used it. We were building it for ourselves. As musicians, we marveled at how this instrument could inspire and challenge us. A lot has changed since then, but that sense of wonder has remained. Couldn’t be more excited to continue the journey as part of @GoogleLabs

Unbelievably lucky to be part of this. Alongside the acquisition, we are removing our waitlist to open Producer to the world, powered by an incredible new music model. Going forward, I’ll be doing research at Google DeepMind! Life is hard to predict, and three years go it was nothing but silly curiosity that led me and @sethforsgren to start poking diffusion models to make sounds. Nothing in the time since has been obvious except the enjoyment of the journey. Our adventure has been impractical by any startup standards, yet we stumbled into 13 impractical people who wanted to dedicate years of their life to it. And the team is really all that matters. Here’s to the next chapter of building with the Producer team and all the incredible people we’ve gotten to know at Google
