Two Puerto Rican brothers, U.S. citizens from Connecticut were harassed while landscaping in a Middletown neighbourhood.
Jose Martin (owner of J. Martin Landscaping) and his brother were trimming trees and cleaning a customer's yard when a couple confronted them over noise.
The pair yelled insults, demanded to see work visas, accused them of being illegal, and said, "This is why we need a border wall right here."
Jose stayed calm, recorded the encounter on his phone, and called police. The brothers, Puerto Rico natives who have lived in Connecticut for decades, needed no visas as American citizens.
Robert Shaw, 62, and Sharon Bourgeois-Williams, 58, were charged with disorderly conduct. The mayor condemned the incident as unrepresentative of the community.

Teacher receives zero work from a student.

This is real. And it’s happening in schools right now.
No effort = half credit.
We were told to give them a 50 because we don’t want the student feeling defeated. 🤬
I refused to give the a 50 for a zero effort….absolutely refused! I was called into the office where I was confronted by the Principal, Superintendent and a couple of other board members. They wanted to understand why I refused to follow the 50 for 0 policy. I quickly told them I became a teacher to educate children. It’s my job to teach and evaluate what my students learn, not to pass them on without making sure they have a solid foundation. The Superintendent then said that a 50 is still a failing grade, and I said “yes sir, and when a paper earns a 50 failing grade that is what they will receive, but if a paper earns a 0 then that is the grade they will receive”.
How exactly does giving students half credit for no effort prepare kids for reality?

Stand down, Chas. All production costs were paid for by the non-profit, The Great American Road Trip, Inc. No one in my family - including my husband - were paid to do this. We did it for FREE to celebrate America 250 & encourage other Americans to get off couches & screens and spend time together seeing our country. It was filmed in small one and two day stops over the course of seven months. You and I both know that my husband has done more in one year to transform the DOT and ATC than your husband did in over 4 years on the job. I still hope your family also embarks on a civic adventure this summer to celebrate America because to love America, you gotta see America!🇺🇸
