@DaftLimmy Not in depth, but I recently bought a second hand (but new with tags)rain jacket which had a fishy smell. Suggestion was that some of the waterproofing was degraded and caused the smell. I aired the jacket on the washing line over night and the smell went.

I've got a waterproof pannier bag for my bike and it's got a fishy smell for no reason. I haven't put anything stinking in it. It's like the chemicals inside break down and produce this minging smell. Anybody got any in depth knowledge of that?
