@JJSharpers Absolutly, incredible bravery. Old can of worms and I know and it won’t happen, but it’s clear from footage that all officers should carry sidearms to enable an individual to be stopped at the first opportunity.

The officers at #Hainault deserve bravery gongs in my opinion. Of the highest level. We see many acts of bravery qualified with “anyone who turned up would have done the same” and I simply don’t believe that would be the case here. They, are the very bloody best of us.

The UK is returning to national planning for homeland defence for the first time in 35 years. This is a major move, and will take many years to develop properly. Quick thread on history of UK resilience planning in this space.

This is the train Russia hit in Dnipro, Ukraine today. 500 passengers were there. At least 5 train cars were damaged. Some were hit directly, passengers said. This is what Russia does while world leaders discuss what to do as if it’s some mystery Russia does it because it can

@gmhales It’s a throwback to the 00’s when cops used to arrest criminals blighting communities & damaging peoples’ quality of life. Maybe it’s a return to reality?! 🤞🏽

@authordlewis I read the the Ray Mears book Real Heroes of Telemark (not seen doc yet) recently. The environmental conditions the Norwegian commandos endured are astonishing, truly resilient super human stuff!

@SandwichZero1 Store detectives and security used to be a lot more proactive 80-90s. But as mentioned supermarkets & other shops have become risk averse to danger of litigation and weakness of courts. But also security guards are also poorly trained, poorly paid and poorly supported.

Auschwitz Memorial
Auschwitz Memorial@AuschwitzMuseum·
Tattooed numbers were used only in one German Nazi camp — Auschwitz. These tattoos were assigned exclusively to prisoners who were registered in the camp. Out of approximately 1.3 million people deported to Auschwitz, only about 400,000 were registered as prisoners and given numbers. The vast majority of Jews murdered in Auschwitz — around one million people — were never registered; they were murdered in gas chambers right upon arrival and received no tattooed number. Moreover, tattoos were not exclusive to Jewish prisoners. Others — including Poles, Roma, Soviet POWs, and others — were also registered and tattooed at Auschwitz. Other concentration camps had entirely different systems for identifying prisoners and did not use tattoos at all. To suggest that every Jewish victim of the Holocaust received a tattooed number — and to use the limited length of those numbers to cast doubt on the scale of the genocide — is not only factually false. This kind of distortion is a deliberate tactic used by Holocaust deniers to insult the memory of victims. In the world of deniers, the suffering of real human beings is reduced to cynical wordplay and harassment. Denying is an assault on memory, truth, and human dignity. Learn about strategies employed by Holocaust deniers to spread misinformation and falsehoods. Online lesson: lekcja.auschwitz.org/negacjonizm_en/ Podcast: auschwitz.org/en/education/e…
