good reminder if you are going to short a DEX token, don't do it on that DEX. you could have been very right shorting $drift on Drift and got 0. so, if you're going to be short $HYPE do it on Lighter. If you're short $LIT do it on Hyperliquid. part of the upside to shorting a DEX (unfortunately), is in the nightmare FTX, Luna, Drift scenario, and that only is realized if you are short elsewhere.

@chfastestfatman that would happen in theory, but I dont think in practice this is how the market behaves. Of course, at a certain point, funding rates would have to be balanced against the risk. wouldn't want to be way overpaying for that "insurance."

@solwizzo Good point! And presumably the demand from shorts on other venues will suppress funding rates relative to the "home venue", and make these the best places to go long as well?

the fact that the $drift token is only down 30% when they are now essentially a defunct/ bankrupt project just shows how illiquid + whacky some of these alt coins are.

@BasisPoint_xyz i would put odds pretty close to 0 that drift recovers in any meaningful way. even if funds are fully recovered - like who is going to re-deposit after an exploit like that?

@solwizzo 30% might seem low, but there is a non zero chance of asset recovery and/or exchange continuation. Funding is also extreme, making shorting very expensive.
