@notesofbarry Yes, that's what I did before posting the last note. I removed all newlines & made it wordwrap. Which solved the issue. I had a similar issue with cut/paste in ACS RUNSQL Scripts where the paste embeds newlines & passes them on UDTF parameters causing an issue for list parms. Thx

@sqliquery Try removing all the new lines. I think it’s documented that each line is run individually.

@notesofbarry in VS Code for i, how do I compile a non-RPG app? I'm coding C++ for i and need to compile it but all I see are CRTPGM and CRTSRVPGM listed when Cmd+E is pressed (on MacOS)

@notesofbarry Further tests shows that it is seeing the secondary lines of the command as separate commands instead of one long one. See this image:

@notesofbarry Yes. I checked on CRTCPPMOD has a default SRCFILE parameter of SRCFILE(*LIBL/QCPPSRC) so for some reason when run through QSH or via VSCODE, it isn't passing or perhaps not seeing the SRCFILE parameter option. NOTE: If I CHGCMDDFT on the server to QCSRC, it obviously works.

@notesofbarry Thanks. Must be some issue with the CPP compiler. It just gives an error looking for QCPPSRC which I've never seen before on 5250 CL commands.

@farzyness Not a Doctor, but likely due to food availability and content. Meaning processed food, food additives and of course the number of "forever chemicals" in our bodies in Developed/ing countries. (those without good laws/regulations concerning food)

Autism rates by country as of 2024. Anyone have any idea why there's such a stark difference between developed, developing, and undeveloped nations? Is it increased awareness, or something else?

@sqliquery @notesofbarry Bob, I am able to connect to a 7.2 machine just fine. At some shops, they might not allow direct connection via port 22. So you might need to forward your port. Hope this helps.

@notesofbarry what do I need to do to get VSCode for I to connect to a V7R2 system when this message is displayed? "Timeout while waiting for handshake" Besides SSHD, is there something else that needs to be opened up? (e.g., Ports?)

@notesofbarry This is a client's system. A Power9 with V7R2. They're using an IP white-list instead of a VPN to provide access. I don't think I've ever used SSH to do anything so the answer is haven't tried.

@sqliquery SSHD should be good. Can you connect with regular ssh? Btw we don’t officially support 7.2

Happy Hubble telescope clock rollover day, everyone. With a 32-bit unsigned integer tracking time in 1/8 of a second, Hubble's clock rolls over to 0 every 17 years or so. Today was the 2nd time in Hubble's lifetime that this happened. Move along. #Hubble

@sqliquery Might I recommend creating a release (on GitHub) and attaching the save files to it instead of Dropbox? Any plans to add the source code to the repository?

@notesofbarry I thought I looked at that but the have a 25MB limit on files. Perhaps that limit isn't imposed for Releases? IDK

@AntonGombkoetoe @notesofbarry Unless its Mac OS in which case it is LF/CR not CR/LF IIRC.

@sqliquery @notesofbarry From the Bytes posted, i guess we just can exclude a CR/LF versus LF problem, as there is no 13 before the 10.

Seriously encoding issues with CCSID 420 are killing me. There is a one byte difference here 😮‍💨

@davepl1968 @IntNostalgia I enjoyed using MFC. Before they created "tabbed dialogs" for use non-MS coders, I created one in the community that is currently still being used today by a Retailing in their Point-of-Sale customer signature capture routine.

@OSSJesseG It'll likely change by at least 80% in 3 to 5 years. So I think "future proof" unlikely. No standards (i.e., "everything is open source") means "next week" the newest tech de jour appears for its 15 minutes of fame.

Slide from a presentation I'm preparing. These skills can future-proof your career regardless of whether your primary platform is #IBMi or other. Any thoughts/agreements/disagreements?

@notesofbarry @OSSJesseG Some things in VS Code get broken and then fixed "right away". Not necessarily a CODE for i issue, verses a VSC component or plug. As a former S/38, AS/400 and now IBM i developer, I'm unfamiliar with bugs induced by frequent updates. Once that adolescents passes, I'm all in.

@sqliquery @OSSJesseG Why can you not rely on it working? Genuinely curious so we can fix that
