Rest in peace Jacob Flickinger.
Two years after 7 aid workers (including Jacob, a Canadian) were targeted and killed in a World Central Kitchen marked van, Canada and the US are still arming their killers.
Israel has killed over 560 aid workers and approximately 1,800 health workers in the last 2.5 years.
Just yesterday @MarkJCarney said he would not consider sanctions on Israel.
Truly horrifying.

So, the Catholic Church having moral opinions on American policy is intolerable, but Israel having enormous influence over American policy is apparently fine.

I am not trying to make my Catholic friends, who I love, angry with this statement. But this entire episode is starting to explain to me why so many Americans were concerned about a Catholic president for so long. I have no interest in Rome trying to dictate American policy. And if it continues to loudly make its opinions heard on our foreign policy, I believe they’re going to find a lot of American Protestants feeling a lot less ecumenical than we have been in the more recent past.

Hundreds of millions of people throughout the world are immersed in extreme poverty. Yet, disproportionate wealth remains in the hands of a few. It is an unjust scenario, in the face of which we cannot fail to question ourselves and commit to change things. There is no lack of resources at the root of disparities, but the need to address solvable problems related to a more equitable distribution of wealth, to be achieved with moral sense and honesty.

The schools that had the most prevalent protests - including Columbia where I work - either suspended or expelled most of the students protesting Israel's genocide of Gaza. One of my former students has a 3 year (!!!) suspension.
Then, the schools enacted rules making protest nearly impossible. And the very people who pressured the schools to do this are now saying "Where are all the protests?".
Idiots.

God does not bless any conflict. Anyone who is a disciple of Christ, the Prince of Peace, is never on the side of those who once wielded the sword and today drop bombs. Military action will not create space for freedom or times of #Peace, which comes only from the patient promotion of coexistence and dialogue among peoples.

When the Taliban shot Malala in the head she was airlifted to the QE hospital in Birmingham, her family rehoused and her life started afresh in safety. Ritaj Rayhan, aged nine, was shot in the head by Israelis so NO British media will report on her murder.
