Ward‑walked Ealing and West Middlesex with Nikos today as North Thames reps.
Doctors told us about their low pay, and so many colleagues are worried about unemployment with so few training posts.

In 1970 the Drs pay review body awarded 30% to junior doctors & consultants to counter inflation. The government gave 30% to juniors but 15% to consultants. The whole pay review body resigned in protest. The report acknowledged affordability but placed fairness first. The 30% ended up being paid. 1/2

This is good news, Mackey claimed it would be doubling this week. Flu is still serious, people still need to get vaccinated, we still need better IP&C but the politicised hyperbole will lead to a crying wolf problem. Always go to a trusted impartial source on this stuff

I don’t think people realise just how big this outcome is.
These percentages are high enough to win a statutory ballot and it was done in just 3 days.
The fallacy that their leaders were detached from their rank and file is dead.
Resident doctors are angry and unified.
