@TheNotoriousHPB Totally. We shouldn’t have to give up our entire lives for our careers, but it isn’t 9-5pm with every weekend off for most.

While 120hrs/week & never seeing your family was not a great, being a surgeon ain’t Club Med. You can be hard-working with a sense of duty/ownership for your patients and profession AND be present and involved with your family. It takes discipline AND grit, it’s not either/or.

@HalletJulie Yes to all of that! My other, rather substantial pet peeve is stating that patients have “failed” lines of therapy. Lines of therapy have failed them.
