@MSharifpourMD Agree. I’d way have a holey artery in the OR. I thought you were saying vein was preferable—clearly way worse!

@TsengJennifer This is the second time in my teenager’s short life where we have woken up surprised and disappointed—he then asks “dad, why did he get elected? Are we going to be safe? What are we going to do?” So that’s fun.

Thrilled to join the amazing group @LVHN @TJUHospital. It will be a privilege to contribute to a great program and help bring #HAI to patients in the region. I cannot wait to collaborate with partners and leadership to prioritize patients, safety, and clinical excellence.

@TheNotoriousHPB Totally. We shouldn’t have to give up our entire lives for our careers, but it isn’t 9-5pm with every weekend off for most.

While 120hrs/week & never seeing your family was not a great, being a surgeon ain’t Club Med. You can be hard-working with a sense of duty/ownership for your patients and profession AND be present and involved with your family. It takes discipline AND grit, it’s not either/or.

@Todd_From_Tampa @shannonrwatts Not sure what you are getting at here, but no I do not. I have a child with disabilities. I was expressing the fact that I lived through a time when that word was thrown about regularly and I was uncomfortable with it then as I am now.

@marklewismd Excellent work by @StefanoCrippa6 and co helping us understand it’s not just size or ca19-9! Resectability is a composite endpoint comprised of imaging, biology and performance status.

Sobering study 👇proving that pancreatic adenocarcinoma is a systemic illness that can only be cured in the OR We are NOT best caring for patients with upfront surgery if they quickly metastasize post-op ~20% of pts had futile operations! #pancsm jamanetwork.com/journals/jamas…

@HalletJulie Yes to all of that! My other, rather substantial pet peeve is stating that patients have “failed” lines of therapy. Lines of therapy have failed them.

🔥 take (as I am reviewing abstracts and manuscripts) - patients are not cancer, cancer is not them; rather, patients live with cancer Let's stop referring to "cancer patients" and move towards "patients with cancer"? +1 on that word count, but makes a difference 😃

Every surgical oncologist’s greatest daily battle is guessing what the frozen section results of the margins are based on the tone of the pathologist’s voice during the first 5 seconds of them calling in..
